:) Thank you guys :)
Alot of good suggestions here :)
It is a 1987 Ford Sierra Rs Cosworth,in Moonstone Blue color. It has some original Rs500 aero.Front Bumper is original rs500.front splitter is a replica.Rear wing is original 3door Cosworth wing modified with rs500 lip,and lower boot wing is original Rs wing, but with cut out for the "big wing".
Here are some pictures.I have done some work to it allready..but will post "minimal" stuff with this car..as i reckon most of you are not that interested in these cars..but i thought it might be fun to maybe learn something new about a true classic Ford Rs :)

Nailed it. The XR4ti was what it was known as on this side of the pond. Their red color looked best on that body.

Not completely nailed it :) The Merkur was a american version of the Sierra Xr4i....and it was named Merkur Xr4Ti in the states. It had a turbo inline 2.3 4cylinder.
The Sierra Cosworth is a completely different car in that sense..It had /has a turbo inline 4, 16valve Cosworth engine, named YB(engine code)
Also the xr4ti and xr4i has the split rear side windows...
But all in all...both versions is a Sierra...but it would be pretty much the same as saying that a 300e is the same as a 500e ;)

The Sierra Rs Cosworth 3doors..where only available in three colors,Black, White and Moonstone Blue.Made only in 5000 ex(+500 "Evo" models..named the Rs500,hence the name)Roughly 1650 of these where Right Hand Drive cars. All rs500"s were RHD versions.

TBH Not a fan of these cars ... but love the BBS wheels!
You are allowed not to be a fan of these :) On the other hand..i am a super fan of these. One of my childhood dreamcars..and ive always been into the Cosworth cars.Anyways.. they are motorsport historical very important. And has definetly made a mark in the motorsport history. And also...very "extreme" when they came out. This was the first production car to have a 100hp pr Litre engine volume...204 hp in a 2.0 litre engine.Which was somewhat unheard of in 1985 :)

2L...inline four. Amazing car, always loved these and the Escort cosworth... Looking forward to see some more of it!

642whp, from a 2.8L V6? Does it run like 4 bar of boost?

hehehe no...this is a cosworth...not a "before mentioned by someone else xr4ti".
This is the 2.0 litre YB engine..Cosworth engine...and my car has 642 whp yes...just ridicilous :) 2.4bar turboboost ...and 99 octane fuel

This is an older video of the car.Dyno sheets at the end of the video.

I was a fan of the xr4ti when it came out here. It was something different from Ford/Mercury. An extra 475 or so HP would have livened it up. Very cool car!

Would love to have one of these xr4Ti"s....there was actually one in my area loooooong time ago...back in the mid mid 80"s...Remember it so well..because even the xr4Ti is quite different from the european brother, Xr4i....The bumpers are radically different..or bigger..as you would expect from a US car ;)

Heyyy mister.Thank you soooooo much .I apreaciate that very much.Come on over for a visit and lets go for a cruise..and a coffee :)
Dont get me going..i would love a Lotus Carlton..or Lotus Omega...as they are called in "Europe"..Lotus Carlton is the UK version ;) Anywhooo..friggin awesome those Lotus "cars".There is one for sale actually here in Norway,,but it has a screwed up engine...rod knock...so a complete rebuild is needed.Always fancied one of those cars. But i think its all good now..my 500e is staying..and receiving some more parts now..and im looking forward to work on it again..as its been WAY TO LONG with no work done to it :)

Amazing power out of a 4 cylinder.....600 lb/ft torque!

I am confusing something, your car looks like it's a LHD car (steering wheel on Left when standing behind the car looking forward - Drive on Right side of road) but you mention that all RS500's were RHD versions and your car is an RS500.....I know I must be missing something basic?

In any case great color and lots of power to have fun with.

Ahh yes,,, the “Merkur” xr4ti. Here in the US, the 1980s equivalent of the 1970s Ford Capri. German engineering and all that....

No no..i never said it was an rs500. my car is a "standard"Rs Cosworth ...With rs500 aero on.So front bumper, rear upper and lower wing are slightly different than the "standard" Rs Cosworth. The Rs500 came in RHD form only...the Rs Cosworth came in both :)

Ok thanks, my mistake. I saw the RS500 sticker and assumed it was RS500. I just reread your post now about RS500 aero. In any case, it looks like a great car. Amazing HP & torque! Congrats.

Stephan,

That’s an awesome car you got there. With all that HP/TQ on hand. What kind of tires does it have? I think it would be pretty easy to burn up a set of rears in a few minutes.

All I can visualize is a lot of smoking rubber. Are you going into DRIFTING? Just kidding.

lol

BTW, I may be in Stavenger someday. I see it’s a cruise ship port for Holland America Line which is a cruise line I have used a lot in the past. HAL offers a cruise up the coast of Norway.

I am aghast that you would present a car without proper coverings on the hood. Have you lost your sense of decency?

heyyy there mister T :) Thaank you sooo much for kind words :) The tires on the car at the moment are totally crappy tires...its a "non" brand ..Sailun...they suck.It was put on the car by precious owner..as there was no tires left of the old ones ;) And the car was just sitting. So when new wheels are going on the car...i do plan to get Michelins:)

ohhhh....you have to let me know if you come to Stavanger.!!!! You are sooo welcome ..i will definetly show you around..and make some coffeee :)
And no...im not going into drifting ;)

@lowman - a Cosworth that escaped Europe and come to the U.S.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986-ford-rs200-2/

What do you think of this car? It's light and 350 HP, but pales in comparison to your 600+ HP one.

Although since its only 350HP
Well..the Rs200 is definetly one of my dream cars...it is not a "cosworth" in that sense..but it has definetly a rallypedigree from another world..the infamous Group B era...Fantastic car.As a matter of fact..the doors, rear taillights, and many interiour parts(you can spot the doorcards, door openings on the body,airvents..Steeringwheel) on the rs200 derived from the Sierra"s.

I do think the rs200 would drive "rings" around my Sierra..as its 4wheel drive..and as you say low weight..it is no slouch with "only 350hp"....to put it simple..those 350hp works for sure ;)
Thank you sooo much for awesome link :)

Actually S, I was looking for a spec of dirt or some defect that I could obtain the ubiquitous CHAIN YANK and could only find the hood of the Ford was missing some sort of insulation or pad. I have no real clue, but thought that might be good enough! (this was a joke post - sometimes the language spoken and only written words lose the fun of the intention)

Your car(s) are always spotless. :gsxracer:

C'mon nocfn, I know you can try harder to yank lowmania's chain!!! :stickpoke: :) :)

The orientation of the air-cooling-fan on the wheel is very good. In the picture below, you can see that the equilateral triangle created by the three BBS logos on fan is neatly bisected by an imaginary diameter-line drawn from valve stem to an opposite point on the circle. That's some very good attention to detail.

a.jpg

However, where it all goes wrong is below. In order to reach nirvana, the BBS logo on the center cap should be parallel with the base of the equilateral triangle such that the tire valve stem underscores the BBS logo on the center cap. It does not. The BBS logo seems oriented with who-knows-what. Instant-Nirvana-Fail.

That’s a cool car. I couldn’t help notice the wheels that appear to be quite similar to the rare 19” BRABUS wheels seen on our E500Es. Check out pics (if you can find them) of Captruff’s/Jeff 500E rolling on his 19” BRABUS wheels.

Finally a little 500e update
Doing some more work to the rear suspension
Replacing the lower arms, refurbishing the springs, and also replacing the fuel pump package.
So this was more of a partsreplacement thing for the most part..but hey...New parts are lovely :)
Some before pictures
Stabilizer bar bracket
20190322_164253_zpsrbxhu1iy.jpg

Old fuel pump assembly. Not looking nice at all

New parts :)
20190322_203943_zpstuzxngac.jpg

20190322_203951_zps7ur0moxw.jpg

Also gave the rear springs a coat of new paint.Masked out the colorcoding...so i kept the original look to the springs

20190322_204019_zps1oitlyvm.jpg

New complete fuel pump assembly:)

20190323_144430_zps8jhekm2u.jpg

20190323_151024_zpsk1z4bqc8.jpg

20190323_151036_zpskdzbe4w8.jpg

I had to reuse this wiring harness bracket..cause i did not know it was there in the first place...so i had to do a little hack..to get it to fit..as it had a piece broken off of it..Looks decent though.

20190323_171507_zps3erqqye7.jpg

And the suspension looks great again :) Did not take a picture when plastic covers were back on.
New stabilizer bar bracket and bushing :) Damn expensive parts .Approx 45 dollars for the bracket a piece..and 6 dollars for each bolt.and 25 dollars for each rubber bushing.

20190323_180346_zps83nqyrh0.jpg

20190323_182500_zpsyxzkqoxq.jpg

Also...a little "wheel" update for this season
Shiny star centre cap for my wheels :)

Here is a new video..of what you have allready seen in these pictures posted above.
I havent done to much work the past year(luckily the car is getting to a point where there is not THAT much resto work needed to be done),as my father have been sick,.And a month ago,he passed away.so im still having a hard time ...so one of my "therapy" strategi thingys in the future(appart from taking care of my family/mother and brother), is to do what i love..work on my cars.My father ,who was a Ford guy, always loved the 500e..so i have to keep it up both for me,,but also for him.So thats how it is :)
