• Hi Guest !

Welcome to the new 500Eboard forum, post-migration to XenForo. Please feel free to do the following:

    1) Explore, click, tweak your settings, enjoy

    2) Check out the new "skins" link at the bottom left of the main page, to change the look and feel (color scheme/graphics) of the forum to your preference

    3) Let me know of any errors you find. I am hard at work in the coming days and weeks to get things tweaked correctly, and I know there are plenty of small tweaks. Feel free to post in the "XenForo Migration" thread anything you find, or have questions about.

MB paint code & color reference

Yeah, those are all old standby sites for color references. What impressed me about the link I posted was that there were photos of actual cars attached to each color ;)

Indeed, for example what we call "Cabarnet Red" is called "Pajettrot" in much of the rest of the world. Seems that MBNA/MBUSA likes to come up with their own cutesy names for colors on cars sold here...

Cheers,
Gerry

Gerry,

Didn't you compile colour samples on Wiki some time back?
I can't find it, is it taken away?

OK, thanks for the feedback.
Let's hope we manage to bring up something similar again. :thumbsup2:

This is a good list also....
Hi.

009 Saphire Black for the Limiteds is missing, however it's a nice color listing. :)

So sorry...I see now that it was posted before.

It must be that your Limiteds are so special that they aren't even listed ! :thumbsup2:

Hi Jimbo.

For some reason doesn't Sapphire Black appear in all color index lists. To my impression it isn't that special, dark blue metallic. I don't know whether it's used on other MBs, I think I've seen it on a W140 once.

By the way - I like the Spuce Green on your ride a lot! If I come across a S124 3.6 AMG in that color for sale, I'll jump out of my shoes. :drool5:

Wow, thanks 036 :) The first site was great, but the pictures wouldn't download from the 2nd. Great to see all the love and attention given to the 500E500 around the world, and the great variety of colors!

Does anyone know more about this front spoiler?

Looks like an add-on lip to the stock 500E bumper... seen that before, but don't know where we could buy one.

Does anyone know the paint code/name for the metallic silver on the original 16" 8-hole 500E wheels?
Wheel Paints.CO.UK.claims that Titanium Silver has been the stock Mercedes Wheel Silver colour for over 25 years, only recently called Titanium to contrast with its other wheel color descriptions. If true, then Mercedes Standard Wheel Silver’s (AKA Mercedes Titanium Silver) paint code is: 9765 (see attachment).

You can also investigate Wurth “German” Silver Lacquer Spray Paint (which I believe was the same paint that Griot’s rebranded under their own label for silver alloy rims. The Griot's paint was very good stuff that I've used in the past.)

Why don't we start new "WIKI" color samples of 124.036 here. I remember seeing a number of rare & custom colors on E500E's from the old WIKI. I'll start.
wow. that blackberry/bornite metallic is stunning. any chance that color made it to the states on any cars? i have a thing for unique and rare colors/color combos.

edit: i see now there were apparently 8 blackberry cars in the US. the amount of information on this forum borders on staggering. it must be rare to see one of these up for sale - makes 040 almost seem common. :D

I know at least one U.S. member has one, search for member M104-AMG, I don't recall if he's posted any pictures here or not though.

thanks Glen. i did find some posts with pics of the car - such a cool and unique color. i know it wouldn't be everyone's favorite, but i'm certain my daughter would it!! :D

Thought this site might be useful as a reference for MB paint codes, including many/most of the codes for our E500Es.

Q: I bought 9199 T/U paint from the dealer and is quite a bit darker than my original paint I've attached the end result using that paint as well as a pic of the bottle.

It is likely that 25 year old paint fades with exposure to sunlight and the elements.

I bought paint to redo the below the Headlight Panel. Sounds like it may stand out and be darker than the rest of the car. How have other's solved this?
Since the headlight/wiper panel only has 1 small edge that contacts another painted panel (leading edge of fender), most of the time it isn't that obvious (when you have the whole panel repainted, but do not repaint the fender).

The proper fix is to have a pro shop custom-blend the paint color to match your existing, faded panel. Anything you buy "off the shelf" is nearly guaranteed not to match, particularly if there is substantial fading.

Metallics will do that when touching up a very small spot.
Try going over with a very sharp razor blade - it should minimize the visual difference. Then you can polish if necessary.

There was three slightly different recipe for 199 in local professional paint dealer. They told that MB used couple paint vendors while the recipe will vary, hence it's not easy to the find to absolutely correct hue. They told that the letter after paint code (beside wind hood in engine compartment) will tell the paint vendor. In my case the code 199 H, but still it's was not the same as original, perhaps due to time.
