This is the most satisfying fix you will ever undertake from a time-spent : satisfaction-received ratio...... Replacing the dipstick o-ring.
The original o-ring gets compressed after nearly 30 years. This makes pulling out and pushing in the dipstick into the dipstick tube a sloppy affair.
Replacing the o-ring yields a much more positive "snick" when checking the dipstick. Part # 006-997-26-45.
