It's an interesting car, I saw it offered for sale at Retro Classics Stuttgart earlier this year, some quickly taken images attached....

Vin I believe is: WDB1240911F171557 (although that comes back as a 199U car) seller had the printout in the window.

I remember seeing this car at the Stuttgart show.

But let’s be realistic:
– if 20k euro is now starting budget for a 'good' factory S124 R6, it’s not reasonable to expect anything particularly inspiring at first glance from a turbo monster in the same range.

Hard to imagine how much $$$ one could end up sinking into this car in a rush to turn it into "very good condition."

Hi Dave, thanks for the ad..
I've also seen it on FB a few days ago..

May I do a slight remark on the statement (and REAR Sportline seats)?
I recall having an 'exchange' of words/impressions with someone else on FB a few weeks ago, since on the official MB-brochures and product sales information there's only been the factory option for the FRONT seats on the S124 range.

The estate cars just showed some additional pattern on their leather/cloth wrapping, around the area where the sedans (4-door W124) would have gotten the proper bolstered individual 2-seater rear arrangement..
Just a common rear bench for 3-seater was withheld (but with this above mentioned 'optical' upgrade) at the S124s

Well, hoping everyone here's having a great Sunday!
Greetz Alberto

Thanks for the info, Alberto! I'm not quite sure where the disconnect is. Either the literature / documentation is wrong where it states that only "normal" split rear seats were offered in the wagon... or, it's semantics where the uphostery has a different pattern on an otherwise "normal" seat (stock bolsters).

But, the Sportline wagons definitely did have a different, non-standard rear seat upholstery available.

Here's a set for sale:

Yes Dave, I guess the difference was about semantics as towards what text in the literature was meaning to describe..

Thanks for the example with the Sportline rear bench in leather upholstery for sale too! It's known to me as well that the upholstery was made different to standard (non-Sportline optioned) rear seats on the S124..

Just a hint - all S124s with Sportline package feature equipment code '244' (Sport seats at the front), meaning only these two front buckets are modified at bolsters' design type - while W124/sedans have code '243' including both rows (but also just the 3-seater option behind remained, if buyer would desire '244') - and C124 couldn't be fitted with either of them.

(A cloth pic is attached for S124/Sportline - herewith can our 'interruption' in the thread be finalised.. :) 👌🏽😉
