Since 126board is temporarily down, figured I'd post this here for some additional peanut gallery discussion. Check out the current bid price ( :crack: ) and read ALL the comments. The selling dealership, PCM / Private Collection Motors, had been on this forum in the past flipping some 500E's.

Multiple people are bidding like this was engineered and built by Singer, when... uh... it isn't. I find it astonishing that there has been zero technical information provided about this build, and all questions from the BaHaT peanut gallery have either been ignored, or ridiculed. Also note the very limited undercarriage photos. One would think that the builder (Bespoke) would be active in the comment section, answering questions, and drumming up potential future business for more half-million dollar widebody conversions. But nope, they're nowhere to be found. Strange, no?

Widebody 1990 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC 6-Speed by Bespoke
This 1990 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC is powered by a 6.2-liter AMG V8 and fitted with flared carbon-fiber fenders and a six-speed manual transmission. The build was carried out by Bespoke Orange County between 2021 and 2024 and also included three-piece 17″ wheels, a modified suspension, a big brake kit, custom beige leather upholstery, power adjustable Recaro seats, a McIntosh stereo head unit, a Focal amplifier and cabin speakers, a stainless steel dual exhaust system, and a repaint in Smoke Silver Metallic. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and it is now offered with a clean California title.
The car has been fitted with flared carbon-fiber fenders and painted in Smoke Silver Metallic. Additional features include carbon-fiber AMG-style bumpers and side skirts, Xenon headlights, and a power sunroof. Custom-fabricated 17″ AMG-style three-piece wheels are mounted with 275/40 and 315/35 Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires manufactured in 2022 and 2023. The suspension was modified by Bespoke and a [no-name offshore] big brake kit has been installed. GSXR note: The replacement suspension is coil-overs, and SLS has been deleted.
The cabin is upholstered in beige leather and features Bespoke-embroidered power-adjustable Recaro front seats, custom wood trim, a McIntosh MX406 Bluetooth stereo head unit, a Focal amplifier, and 11 Focal speakers.
The Bespoke-branded gauges include a 190-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and a combination gauge for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and fuel economy. The six-digit odometer shows 41k miles.
The 6.2L M156 AMG V8 was installed during the build and is equipped with a bespoke Bespoke stainless steel exhaust system. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Mercedes six-speed manual transmission [of unknown source but likely not rated for M156 power levels] and a [bone-stock clutch-type] limited-slip differential.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists history in California from the first entry in 1991.
The car has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair and it cannot be sold to an in-state private party buyer.

How did I just realize this was Private Collection Motors? I used to walk past them on my way to work. They were proud of their stuff then, and I guess they still are. That was a decade ago.

Nice looking concept but like you @gsxr I wonder about the engineering specifics.

maw

I agree. No technical details. The price is insane.

I am not a big fan of the wide-body look either. You can build this car without the wide fenders for ca. 50K-60K including the car itself. Just stupid expensive.

Odd that the builder "Bespoke" is in the same building?
Huh. That is interesting. Someone else opined that PCM and Bespoke are either the same person, or kissin' cousins, or otherwise connected somehow. If so, it's even more telling that PCM is refusing to answer any technical questions.

After trying to find Bespoke Orange County. The Bespoke OC name is associated with a Suit Manufacturer in Costs Mesa, CA.

There is also a Bespoke Upholstery and Restoration in Costa Mesa, CA that would maybe account for the interior states “metal fabrication” also. It also shows Mercedes cars but I didn’t see the SEC

Well. There ya go.

Seems disingenuous for PCM to not mention this relationship.

"The car was acquired by the selling dealer [PCM] in 2024 and it is now offered with a clean California title [but cannot be sold in California]."

Also, this has to be one of the shortest, least-useful descriptions I've ever seen for any car on BaHaT, let alone one with few original parts remaining.

Only 7 total bidders if I counted correctly, and 5 were over a half-million. I had no idea so many people used BaT to launder money.

$560k = SerialCollector - "winning" bid (using the term loosely, PCM was the real "winner" here)
$555k = Swankrides
$545k = tst550
$526k = PorschesandCoffee
$501k = shervbat
$350k = Dadster
$57k = Competitioncars

Would be hilarious if this ends up at BlueRidge to get sorted out.

Hehe...as much as I love ragging on Boomers I highly doubt they are still acquiring these types of toys. They're too busy jumping back into the housing market seeing as they're the only ones who can play. At least they're not letting all that privilege go to waste:jono:

Did Bespoke extend their flared work to the interior? If so, then I can totally justify the pot induced price.

I got a kick out of this comment, since MB only puts 6-speed gearboxes behind 4/5/6-cyl engines... now that little gearbox is behind a 550hp, 7000rpm V8. Wonder how long it will last if it ever sees full throttle shifts.

:3gears:

"Congratulations to all parties for a stellar result.
However, I have to say that this car must certainly have set another record that no one could have expected. I have to say this must be the first time any vehicle sold for more than $500k where the transmission was never properly identified during the auction. I find this fact absolutely insane, yet here we are.
Again, BRAVO to all parties. Truly spectacular in every way!"

They’re not using the old manual from the R129 320 cars are they? This is really a MB transmission? I thought they just adapted some Getrag or something from a Z06 or sumshit to fit. No?? I personally don’t think people are that stupid, so I doubt money actually changes hands. Crypto maybe but not money. And that’s a big maybe.

I suspect it's from an SLK or similar, but I don't know my MB manuals very well. It's the torque capacity that's the concern. The M156 puts out 630Nm (475 lb-ft) which is a wee bit more than your typical M112.

Buyer says he owns two Singers and he knows what transmission Bespoke installed, so jolly good for him. The transmission, and rear axle/diff, will be fine for the half-throttle use the car will likely see.

There's also speculation that this all could have been a marketing stunt to make Bespoke look like the new Singer, for a mere $7500 (the cap on the buyer's fee). Now they can start asking >$500k for all their builds, because look at what the 560SEC sold for!

yea, the wood color choice is weird... isnt that color/style for a lower trim mb? and whats up with the steering wheel, thats just weird... it should only have the amg momo wheel.

and its kinda wild that some simple questions were't answered... and whatever the gearbox is, someone put one in a black series w/ the same engine in the east coast

questions are pretty valid for something this thats unknown... dont assume anything, especially at this price
