Hello 500Eboard. My name is Adam Eisenhauer, owner/operator of Garage44 in Annville, PA. I specialize in bringatrailer listing services, here is link to my profile page garage44. This is my business and sole income, therefore I take the vehicles I represent and reputation very seriously. I am assisting a client by selling her late husband's car collection and this 500E is the first. During the process of preparing this car, I gained a great deal of knowledge from this site so I figured I would offer it here prior to sending it to BaT. All that said, I am not a 500E expert so please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them.

The Story:
This 500E was built in 12/91 and initially purchased on 4/30/1992 in Oradell, NJ by a Food Exec, who is now in the Candy Hall of Fame for what it's worth. The current owner purchased it from him in February of 1994 with 7,461mi for $57,500 and has owned it since. He seasonally daily drove it to his office in Baltimore where he had a parking garage which limited its exposure to the sun and elements. Interestingly, he repeated that formula in 2009 by purchasing another 2yr old top of the line E-Class. This time it was a 2007 E63 Sedan with 1,900 miles in the same color combination to relieve this 500E of the daily driver duties. The owner was in the financial sector and it's clear he liked it when others took the depreciation hit. The collection currently includes a '96 911 Cab, '04 GT3, the aforementioned '07 E63 Sedan, and a '62 356 roadster. The 3 modern cars listed have less combined miles than this 500E. It's also worth noting that he vintage raced Porsche's and owned a Ferrari 365 GTC that was sold last year.
The gentleman's illness prevented him from driving any of his cars. This car sat in his climate controlled home garage in the suburbs of Baltimore, MD for about 5yrs prior to me removing it. I was basically given an open checkbook to do what I needed to get the car in a good spot before trying to find the next owner. There are still little things to improve on the car, and this is why I chose to offer it to the tried and true 500E enthusiasts first. Without going too far in the weeds, my client's husband loved this car and I feel a greater responsibility to get this car in the right hands.
I picked up the car on April 21, 2024. We winched it right into the trailer and took it to Kassel Performance in York, PA with 77,881 miles. Together with Kassel, we evaluated the vehicle and came up with a plan to responsibly get the car back in operation but please know that it never gave us problems, we just wanted to recommission the car the proper way instead of installing a new battery and turning the key. Here is what we did:
Recent Work (last 60days):
-Mercedes / Bosch Battery
-OEM Valve Cover Gaskets
-Nissens Radiator
-Mercedes OEM Front Struts, Strut Mounts, Spring Pads, Bump Stops, & Strut Bellows (we were told these were the last 2 struts in the US)
-Drain Fuel
-Fuel Filter
-Oil & Filter
-Brake Fluid Flush
-Power Steering Fluid Flush
-Transmission Fluid Flush
-(4) Continental Extreme Contact Tires
-Refinished (5) Wheel Faces and Cleaned the Barrels. There were a few rash marks but nothing terrible. The main reason I chose to refinish was that they were dull.
-Professional Detail
The invoices can be found in the gallery along with every service record we have. In total, well over $7,000 was spent preparing this car. We are currently at a point where I think the car is ready for its next owner. I drove it about 350 miles in order to give it a good shakedown prior to offering it for sale. This is the first 500E I've driven. I can see why everyone loves them. The car pulls strongly and rides smoothly. A/C is cold. The rear shade and headrest drop button works. All lights/signals/hazards, windows, sunroof, central locking system, telescoping wheel, heated seats, & passenger mirror works.
The paint shines nicely and you can find paint meter readings in the gallery which confirm it is 100% original paint. All of the rubber seals and exterior trim are near mint. Please note the exterior window trim and roof rails can show as purple in the gallery, this is due to the filter I use on my camera lens. They are 100% consistent in the smoked silver color and again, no sun damage or fading. They are in near perfect condition and it is one of the highlights of the car in my opinion.
6/22/2024 - I drove the 500E up to Watkins Glen for the IMSA 6hr races this weekend. The trip was 188mi of highway driving and I purchased gas when getting on and off...it took 9gal so 21MPG. A few spots of traffic but 98% of the time I was at cruising speed of 75-85MPH
What Else Should You Know:
-The upper wiring harness has a date code of 2012. The lower harness appears to be original.
-On occasion and less prevalent of late, the idle has a small stutter about every 30sec or so. The car runs very strong and there are no issues from light throttle to heavy throttle.
-The radio turns on (we have the code), but no sound from the speakers and the antenna does not work, but the antenna did work when I got it.
-The front right seat back switch works intermittently.
-There are a number of stone chips, mainly on the hood and mirrors.
-A few scuffs on the front lower valance & side trim.
-A dime'ish sized spot of clear coat failure on the trunk as well some wear through on the back edge of trunk
-A 4" scratch on the right rear quarter.
-The headliner is sagging.
-DDD has started. It is not terrible but has started nonetheless.
-All blemishes are visible in the gallery. NOTE: I did NOT use touch-up paint on the car, but I just purchased both colors of OEM MB touch up paint which are included with the car.
At the end of the day, this is a nice, honest, and highly original car. The MD title is clean and has been transferred into my client's name so the transfer is easy. We retained a copy of the 1994 title and it will be included in the vehicle history binder.
Asking price is $57,500.
Payment will be made directly to the owner and I will assist in the process to make things easier for my client.
The car is in my shop in Annville, PA and I welcome in-person inspections by appointment.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Thank you for looking.
