2015 Washington DC E500E GTG

Harness would be NP....just that pass through loom holder on the fire wall is the biggest hold up/PITA...:-P

That thing was one of the worst parts of my lower harness job. Ended up breaking it of course, luckily a new one is pretty cheap, but what a PIA getting that piece back together. My hands took a real beating......nice to hear it wasn't just me!

I was referring to the upper harness so you experienced the same pain on the upper as the lower?

Upper and lower harnesses both go through the same clamshell style insulator in the firewall... and the ETA wire too, IIRC. Fun stuff.

:pc1:

FYI, we are targeting late Spring, more specifically the weekend of 5/1-5/3/15, to coincide with the Deutsche Marque event.

Let me put it on my calendar and see what I can do. I may need to go to DC to the USPTO to do some patent searching or something during that timeframe.

Jonathan, keep me updated on text...

so then do folks do both harnessess as a result o them passing thru the same portal?

Portal had no effect on harness life... It is Easier to do them all in one shot, only have to line everything back up once that way!

:update: - SAVE THE DATES - MAY 2nd & 3rd of 2015

The "official" dates for the 2015 Washington DC E500E GTG are May 2nd & 3rd.

The featured guest will be . . . (drum roll please) . . the Head Honcho himself, GVZ.

Our activities will be centered in the Vienna, VA area which is located 17 miles west of downtown Washington DC. One of our main events will be the Deutsche Marque Concours on Sunday, May 3rd. We are working on getting a prime area in the MB portion of the event reserved for our group member's cars. Another main event will be a group dinner the evening of 5/2. If a number of you planning to attend are coming from out-of-town, we will locate a convenient "event" hotel.

We will use this thread to provide you with additional information on these (and other) events as it becomes available. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the planning group: 8899 (Greg); hollybrook (Wayne); nTrepid (Robert) or vatc5637 (Terry). Also if any of our "local" DC brethren can help out, we would welcome your participation in our planning group, just contact anyone of us.

We look forward to seeing you in May!

wow this sounds awesome.

Sorry 8899, missed your call today, but i will give you a ring tomorrow. Also, very close with the local MBCA chapter up here, so I am open to giving them a heads up. Very friendly group of people.

I am going to tentatively plan on attending this (my schedule should firm up as the time gets closer). Should be fun, a great way to meet folks (I'm fairly new here and to Mercedes) and show off our cars.

Terry should be posting up a new thread with a sign-up list and more details soon. We had a conference call last week to begin planning the event. There's a good team of folks from the DC area who are the core planners.

I think Trae said he may plan to come up from NC, so perhaps you guys could caravan up. I'm still tossing around the idea of making an E500 roadtrip out of the gathering. If the price of gas stays low, I probably will make it a drive.

Cheers,
Gerry

Any updates /other people planning to attend? I need to book lodging...where is everyone else planning to stay? I'm likely to choose a Marriott property so I can use points.

The planning group will be "publishing" a list of 3 or 4 hotels in the area for folks to consider and choose from. My guess is that will happen in the next 2-3 weeks. If you would like to speak to someone local before then, I would suggest reaching out to 8899 (Greg), ntrepid (Robert) or hollybrook (Wayne) via pm.

Planning for this GTG is in full swing. A core group of members have held two conference calls (complete with agendas and supporting discussion papers no less!) and have a third planned this coming week. As vatc5637 (Terry) indicates above, we should have a list of recommended hotels posted on or around February 27. Plans are coming together for a fabulous weekend! Lastly, please raise your hand if you are interested in joining the core planning group.

Cheers!
