I know the CLS 550 does not belong here, but in case any of you ever swing by Baton Rouge, but I wanted to give you all idea of the paint correction that I performed on this car. I would gladly work on your cars’ and remove any deep scratches, swirls or holograms your pain might have even if you don’t have 12 hrs. to wait. BTW, no high charge for E500's
Here’s the procedure:
1. Surface was foam washed, then clayed with Meguiar’s Yellow clay bar (140g.)
2. Areas with deep scratches were touched up and wet sanded with 3M 2000 grit followed by Meguiars 105 with 3M 5725 Perfect It polishing pad and a Makita Rotary @1350 rpm.
3. First stage > (8 section passes per 18”x18” division) , LC Yellow pad with Meguiar’s 105 polishing compound., Porter Cable 7424XP. Speed 6
4. Second stage > LC Orange pad with Menzerna Super Intensive Polish (SIP), Porter Cable 7424XP. Speed 6
5. Third Stage > LC White pad with Menzerna Nano Polish, Porter Cable 7424XP. Speed 6
6. Entire surface alcohol wipe-down.
7. Fourth Stage > Turtle Wax Black Wax, applied by hand.
8. Fifth Stage > LC Blue pad with Menzerna Power Lock Polymer Sealant, Porter Cable 7424 at Speed 1.
Generally you apply the sealant first, wait 24 hrs. then apply the wax, but the owner needed it the following day. Overall time spent on paint prep and surface correction = 11 hrs. 43 min. I don’t have any before and after pics of the interior, but trust me it was bad. Lot more pics of other black imports available.
