I got an almost new front bumper for 500E Original Mercedes part.
I had it on my 1991 500E w124036 Se link: Mercedes 500E "Styggingen" (1991)
It was mounted on my 500E for just one week then I put the old one back to sell the car. It's been sitting on a shelf in my garage for over 10 years now. And i have decided to sell it now. It is located in Sweden Scandinavia, but I'm willing to send it to the buyer.

Look at the pictures for condition. It is painted in 040 solid black. It has some shelfware so it need's a new paint-job.

I have not found any references to the price of one of thies. So I have not decided on a price yet. But I will not let i go for under $3000
I know this is alot of money, but it is no longer made by Mercedes since many years, and finding one in this condition is not easy and they do not come up for sale often.

I send me a pm if you have any questions or want to buy it.
Regards Mikael

Wow!

Which part of Sweden this is located?

Did you bought as a complete bumper back in the days?

No offense, but to me it looks like the rest of the damper pads (foam like) inside are missing or they might not suit in that bumber, or at least something to fit to car is missing? Also I can't see the front end mounting points. If I remember correctly there should be some bolts in the bumper which will fit to front end impact strip (steel structure)

Anyway it seems original bumper :scratchchin:

Btw do you have those plastic impact strips which will fit to the outside of the bumper ?

I'm interested! :spend:

Yep, all the foam pads and mounting pieces are missing. Looks like someone ordered the bare bumper cover, not the full assembly, where all those pieces have to be swapped from the existing bumper.

what happens if you delete the bumper foam?

The bumper foam comes with the bumper IIRC. I actually have an original bumper for the regular W124 in my parts bin, and it looks like this, with the buffers included. Now I didn’t order this myself from MB, so I can’t say for certain that it comes like this. IMG_6614.jpegIMG_6613.jpegIMG_6609.jpegIMG_7862.jpegIMG_7858.jpeg

The bumper will fit fine without the foam pads, but due to less impact absorption a relative light hit on the bumper may give a permanent deformation, significant cracking - in other words an irreparable damage. Dependent on where it is on the bumper, the missing impact resistance may lead to damages on chassis parts as well. With the foam pads in place there is a certain chance that the bumper can be repaired, but all is relative of course.

@Eno, the PN is visible on image no.8 in the first post, #124 885 15 25 which is correct for the 036.

For reference the PN# is listed in the sales thread on the (almost) complete exterior parts kit sold on The MBM auction back in Sept. 2022. That list is in fact a good overview containing most of the 036 specific parts.
(20) 001-988-51-81 fastener clips
(1) 124-880-20-71 rear bumper cover
(1) 124-885-15-25 front bumper cover
(1) 124-880-08-05-9999 front tow hook grill
(1) 124-885-12-21 rear bumper impact strip

A1248804770 = full bumper assembly includes the foam AND a pile of other parts.
A1248851525= bare bumper cover does not include foam (Impact Absorber) or other hardware shown below.

Callout #5 is the full assembly and includes callouts #8 through #41.
Callout #8 is the bare bumper cover without #'s 11-41.

Is this regular W124 front bumper for sale?
It is, I have no idea on value though? And it is located in Sweden, although I can ship basically anywhere in the world. I would guess it’s expensive to ship though due to size. Let me know in PM. 😊

Thanks Dave - it's so nice to see those views from the good old EPC!:hearts:
I really miss the golden days back when digging through the EPC and no worries about parts availability.:banana1:

If the foam is the same as the regular w124 bumper. One may find them at your lokal Mercedes dealer.

I’ve had my front bumper off for a repair and repaint a long time ago. Probably around 2005 or 2006. If I remember correctly the styrofoam could be easily duplicated. Styrofoam can be shaped easily with a sharp knife, razor blades and some rasping.

Of course you would need someone else’s bumper for a model.

500AMM, you mentioned the good old days going thru the EPC. I just pay the $92 for annual subscription fee for access to the ISPPI, successor to EPC. Of course the customer version does not show inventory levels or prices but just call a dealer for that .
