In case anyone was interested in a PWS (Personal Weather Station), Ambient Weather has two of their PWS's on sale now 20% off. These rarely go on sale, I've been watching since springtime.

Pro tip: Sign up for their newsletter first (click here), they will send you a unique coupon code for an additional 10% off. Although the fine print says the code won't apply with other discounts, the 10% coupon did work for me on top of the sale prices:

I've been wanting to get a PWS for a while but was waiting for a deal - pulled the trigger this AM. The additional sensors are cheaper if you buy at the same time as the PWS, with the extra 10% discount. Free shipping too.

:update:

Different weather stations will be on sale for Cyber Monday. Will update this thread when the prices are published Monday AM.

I’m ready to pull the trigger as well; I assume you’re talking about the WS-2902?
I was really torn between the 2000 and 5000, but the ultrasonic anemometer on the 5000 along with capability to support more sensor types swayed me to the fancy version. The 5-second update time was a bonus. Reviews on both units are quite good, if you don't have a need for the extra functionality of the 5000, the 2000 will be less painful on the wallet. Stepping down to the 2902 you also lose the nicer display, and the 2902 supports fewer sensor types. Unfortunately the 2000 is not on sale right now. I didn't like the display console on the 2902.

I am really confused as to why the 5000 design forces the rain collector on top of the pole though. Logic dictates the positions should be opposite. This is a non-issue with the 2000 or 2902 which share the same all-in-one sensor array. I'm planning to mount on a pole that reaches 10' above the ground, and is roughly 100' from the nearest building / obstruction. Location is critical, do your homework before mounting.

What additional sensors or other accessories did you consider and buy?
I skipped the bird spikes as I don't expect bird issues, and I could buy the kit later if that becomes a problem.
I got one additional WH31E sensor to monitor indoor temps on both the main floor & basement.
Also got a leak detector for the basement utility room by the water treatment stuff.
And, the optional heating unit for the ultrasonic anemometer, which doesn't like snow or ice.
The lightning detector looked nifty but is expensive, and needs a weather resistant mounting location - skipped that for now.
I had no use for the other sensors: pool or probe thermometer, soil sensor, air quality, etc.

The nice thing is you can buy the sensors separately later on, if you find you need them. Make sure to read the comparison chart closely between the 3 models and figure out what best meets your needs.

Cyber Monday started on Sunday. The WS-2000 is now on sale from $299 down to $239. I'd highly recommend this over the lower-end models with the, uh, "vintage" display console. Sale is over on the WS-5000. Their website is really struggling this morning...
