Black powdery residue, mostly at rear of car?

I am wondering if people get an unusual about of "black powdery residue", mostly at the rear of the car? This is after 250 miles of dry-weather driving, and you are looking at the inner barrels of the rear wheels. I realize that many people might have a closed-face design so people may not see this, but I see this residue on the wheel arch lips @ the rear as well.

I do not think it is soot because it is not really fine enough (maybe?) to be soot? And, I don't hear any rear tire rubbing noises. Its almost like rubber particles? This might be nothing, but I have noticed this for some time now .... just wondering if the car is trying to tell me something but that I don't know how to listen.....

Brake dust.

:burnout:
With Akebono pads? I don't really get that much brake dust on the face of wheels....... and much less accumulates on the front wheels too (where most of the braking occurs).

One other reason I like Porterfield R4S brake pads, no black dust. Even after long track days, just taupe color residue. Since I’ve switched to open face design wheels, I did get more conscious about how much of the barrels are visible. So that kind of black residue inside the barrels would drive me nuts.
