Finally getting around to creating my owner thread, after 5 years of ownership 😂

Acquired the car back in 2015 in LA, during my internship. The car was bone stock, high mileage, but in good condition with no accident history and no rust. 1992 Spec with WOT enrichment!

The car returned with me to the east coast after the internship. One of the first things I did, besides switching out the (back then) 13 years old wiring harnesses, was to get my hands on a set of euro spec hella headlamps. The original headlamps were in good condition, with no fading of the outer housing, but I just had to get the Euro spec front!

One of my favorite pics over the years! Dat euro front end 😍

Shortly afterwards, fitted it with 19in wheels from a 219 amg. Loved the way it looked, but they're pretty heavy and with the 30/35 aspect ratios, NY pot holes were definitely pretty harsh to ride on!

I attended school in Michigan and had the pleasure of meeting @makemann several times. One of the nicest and most humble car guy I've ever met. His car is so clean and seeing his car everytime definitely kept me motivated to keep working on my car, despite the mess I was in with engineering school assignments and internships!

Probably one of the coolest days of my 500e ownership! Back in 2016, I posted on this forum, with just a week notice, about holding a small e500e meet in NYC area. I just wanted to meet some more owners and thought I'd be lucky to get just 3 cars together, but the turnout surpassed by wildest dreams 😊

Got to spend 6 months in Tokyo for another internship. During my stay there, got to visit J-Auto in Setagaya. I couldn't speak any Japanese, and the staff there couldn't speak English either, but they were super nice and took their time to show me around. Whenever I had any questions regarding some of the modifications/parts they had with these cars, did their best job to explain. If you're ever in Tokyo, definitely worth a visit!

During my stay in Tokyo, I also got to meet Niibe-san. So many cool mods on his car.. and almost none of them are off the shelf items. Almost everything is custom built/fab'd. He's not an engineer, but has ridiculous levels of mechanical understanding of automobiles and is not scared to test with his ideas. Mad respect 🙌

Fast forward to today, I've moved back to LA and this is how the car sits.
Besides the regular maintenance/repairs, all the mods include:
Euro Headlights+wipers
Neez Euro Five 18in wheels
Mov'it ceramic front brakes
Supersprint muffler
Amg E60 Front Anti Rollbar

I'll be honest, I seldom drove the car over the past 2 years, after moving to socal. Working as an automotive engineer, I'm usually driving test cars for my weekday commutes, and on weekends, I'm driving a Honda S2000.
Took the car out for the first time in a while this week and realized what I've been missing out on.
Hopefully, I'll finish up the car very soon and meet more forum members! :)

Thanks for posting! Were you satisfied with the wheel bolts that came with your Neez? I got the wheel bolts that Jeff ordered with the Neez that he bought. About a year ago I decided that the Neez bolts just look like crap so I replaced them with custom bolts from OTIS in LA and cut them to size.

I agree they're definitely not the nicest looking haha
They sink into the lug hole pretty deep and are not really visible unless you're actively looking into it so I never bothered but I might get them ordered too down the line!

I was wondering how you were doing! So nice to hear from you again. Glad you still have the car and landed a job out west!

Yep, that was it under previous ownership with unpainted grille slats, original grille chrome / star / emblem, US orange indicators, non-replaced mirror boots, and non-replaced foglight lenses. :)

Actually that is a great picture to compare US yellow indicators vs. Euro orange indicators on @cargen's car.

That’s a real German license plate with real registration stickers on there. Was the previous owner German? Car looked amazing even without all the things you have done to advance it even further...

Hahah, IIRC that number plate was a special gift to the previous owner (who is not German) from someone who had access to such things....

A side-by-side showing the color difference. I don't think a lot of people can tell the difference but I personally prefer the stronger orange hue on the euro spec 😁
