The weather cleared up a bit, and I was able to sneak the E500 out for a little exercise. After watching a video of a WOT run, I went frame-by-frame to try and determine the exact shift point. From what I can tell, my shift points are - approximately:
1-2: 6200-6300rpm
2-3: 6300-6400rpm
3-4: 6000-6100rpm
Click here http://www.w124performance.com/movies/M ... 130mph.mpg to watch the video (20MB download). Note that after each upshift, the RPM drops back to around 4400, just past the torque peak, and right in the meat of the powerband (according to my dyno charts). I think a 6100-6300 shift point is nearly perfect.
BTW, this run was with 3/4 tank of fuel on a level road, 32?F ambient temp, 2400' elevation. I was pretty happy with the 25-second time from 0-130, too (measured via AP-22 performance computer). Average uncorrected times (over two runs) were:
0-60: 5.85 sec
0-100: 13.85 sec
0-130: 24.90 sec
And that was with a little wheelspin & ASR engagement at launch, at 2400'. With LSD at sea level, and/or with 15 fewer gallons in the tank, it should be even quicker. Full AP-22 data on the runs is at this link, scroll to the bottom of the text file.

That was a good run Dave. I like the white 190mph gauges too...must have been some work to calibrate?

Thanks, Dean. The speedo work had to be done by a VDO shop, to get the modified speedo to match the odometer. An external signal modifier (i.e., Yellow Box) would have made the speedo accurate, but not the odometer. Both are working correctly and are accurate. It wasn't cheap though!

I don't remember Dave...have you done the SL500 rear diff conversion yet? I'd like to know the top speed with 2.65 gearing :up2:

nice job on the video. Your car seems very "trained" shifts well, sounds great, etc.

*sigh*
I finally got the parts back from my buddy, he never had time to do the work. I got the LSD carrier torn apart, now I need to order the new clutch pack, etc to refresh the LSD. Then it bolts into the 2.65 diff. I'm hoping to have it completed this winter, and installed this spring (by May/June). Dunno if/when I'll be able to test top speed, though. You know if we can run at the Salt Flats without a roll cage, etc?

My condolences man
All this work may be theoretical if you don't install the rollbar, 5-point harness, etc., required for the Salt Flats and other "dry lake bed" sites, as they all require tech inspection and safety equipment for sanctioned runs. I don't know if you can just bandit the course when no one else is using it? I think they are all government reserves so that's not likely.

Yeah, I don't need a "sanctioned" run, I'd be happy with handheld GPS results. Nurburgring is a bit of a drive from Idaho. Shame there's not more places to test this stuff legally...
