ETA ribuiders

From everything I have read, experiences with these "ETA rebuilders" is a mixed bag, at best. And that includes professional outfits like Beckmann. I've heard more than one tale of supposedly "professionally rebuilt" units not working correctly once received.

IMHO the best way to go would be to find a working, used ETA (preferably with low miles) and use that. Jono has said that he is seeing more and more ETAs not with the bad wiring, but ones with good wiring (manufactured after 2000) but where the gears and clutch inside the unit are failing.

Victor is a very knowledgable guy..and ive seen most of his videos..and followed what he do to on his youtube channel for quite some time...and i really think he knows what he is doing..
But as we all know...with electronics..you really can not forsee what and when stuff happens..so if a repaired unit fails..i think its not "always" the "repair dudes" fault..in a way.
but i think he does a good job on these ETA"s. :)

Had to change mine and got me a rebuilt from a guy near Hamburg (Germany).
Works perfectly.
The good thing: he send me his rebuilt and then I returned my old one to get the core.

Am currently dealing with this for a customer. He just bought the car, put about 1000 miles on it and the ETA is going into limp mode. Pull it out to check and it was a reman unit from Beckmann dated 01.15. Called and ordered another from them, installed and it lasted 100 miles before having issues with fuel safety cut-outs at 1200-1500 rpm. Sent them both back and am now awaiting the return of a good unit with crossed fingers.

It would be best to find an original unit with a later date code for sure, but like with Jono's experience, I'm starting to see a lot of those failing also (not for rotten wiring).

Unfortunately these things are such delicate and complex units, getting a good rebuilt unit is getting harder and harder with each day that passes.
