Side question; Is this unique to 036 (and possibly 034)?
Yes - unique to all 036, and all 034 with 90L tank.

I believe all Euro-spec 034 came with the 90L tank standard, and the 70L tank was not offered.

USA and Japan received the 70L tank due to the tall 2.24 differential gear ratio. USA had no option for 90L tank, but Japan could special order a 90L tank with option code 915. The level sending unit is also different and must match the gauge. And, the trunk carpeting is also different because the 90L tank is several inches deeper.

I believe all 124s could be ordered with the large tank here in Europe though, of which instruments should be compatible in that case - are there other differences to 036 instruments compared to others as well?

Yes - other 124 chassis could be special ordered with the 90L tank, so if you are hunting for the 90L tank, it could show up in another chassis. I'd assume that's a relatively rare option though, and would require lots of searching.

However, the "yellow top" sending unit, is likely unique to the M119+90L tank combination... same with the gauge cluster. The yellow-top sender is shorter, to turn on the reserve light with ~3.5 gallons remaining, instead of ~2.5 gallons. The gauge calibration is different to accommodate this change. You can recalibrate a standard gauge to work with the yellow top gauge, this has been documented on the forum in the past. The EPC shows the yellow-top sending unit with some other chassis with 90L tank but I believe this is an EPC error.

Cool, just curious in case an oil temp gauge were to be included sometime 👍
There was never an oil temp gauge from the factory. Brabus made one that used a modified ambient temp display that could be toggled between outside air temp, and engine oil temp. Really rare item though.

I know, but there’s a fourth spot in that instrument 😉

Those Brabus Tempmatic displays are awesome as well, although I wish they modified the original displays instead of a proprietary one that doesn’t quite fit..

@peets500, my apologies, I could have sworn I had this gauge here in the U.S., but it turns out I left it in Germany last time I went there in spring.

Let me see what shipping is from
Germany (only option will be DHL) and then we go from there. Please PM me your detailed shipping address so I can get a quote. Thanks!
