You can see in the photos that my metal (chrome) antenna ‘cap’ has separated in two, and the top part of it now transits ‘with’ the antenna tip.

Does anyone have a broken spare antenna they’d part with so i can scavange the top metal cap/sleeve? I haven’t been able to locate the PN for just this piece…

Thanks!

@a777fan, Jon, Have you tried to maybe glue it down with some kind of cement? Maybe tire tube patch cement or something. If you do try it make sure you use it sparingly and move the antenna up and down a few times while holding the part in place:)

OR do what Arn’t says

Just a suggestion:)

lol

Do you know if this cap part the same across all models of hirschmann antenna?
Jon, I was too fast when looking at your pics, sorry (I was on the phone). Now I see it's the nut on top of the grommet which has come loose. I concur with Terry, try to glue it with an elastic compound to accomodate the flex in the grommet. It is a lot of products around, but I can really recommend Casco Marin & Teknik which among others is used in the car industry. It can even be used submerged in water, as long as it sticks to the surface it does the job. Available in various colors on cartridge and tube.

No, but the mast for the USA-spec 034/036 antennas is the same, 140-827-00-01. The bigger problem is that now you have nothing to unscrew the threads inside the antenna tube. That would have to be removed before you could replace the mast. Gluing down the old one would be a good temporary fix, just make sure the glue applied will not cause problems in the future when you try to replace the mast.

Thanks for the info gents!

Yep - this will have to be an 'antenna out' repair. Thats ok. The antenna on this guy (while functional) has always been a little wonky, and not returning all the way down at times. I might just grab a brand-new mast and replace so I only have to do this once.
