The gaiters are loose on both my face-lifted car's front struts.

Any advice on how to repair or replace?

Sorry of the poor picture but you can see the problem.

Get OE Mercedes only for the accordion boots. The aftermarket ones are junk and will not last nearly as long. You have to lower the strut out of the strut mount to replace the boot, either supporting the LCA with a floor jack, or using a spring compressor (recommended). If your strut mounts are not recent, this would be the PERFECT time to replace them as well... for the mounts, get OE Mercedes or OEM (Metzeler brand) only.

Is it possible to get the original part Nr for this parts? “gaiters” you call it?
Yes, this is an easy one.

A1293230192 (which is the current number, superseded from the original part A1243230192).

Two of them are required.

US list price is $13.50; hopefully not much more in Sweden.

Hi, just get the gaiters and the struts mount from the dealer, is it possible to shift this one without take the struts of the car?
I just take the 2ton floor jack under the suspension arm and “jack it up a bit, and lose the 22mm nuts on the shocks a little bit. If I take the nut lose the hole bit I will get down from strut mount bearing of course, but is it possible to get the shock up again thro the strut mount bearing?
I was thinking not take the mounting bearing of the car, just shift to new gaiters and struts mount.

Yes, you can replace the strut mount and boot/gaiters without taking the struts out of the car. It's a bit of a challenge though. If you have stock 036 struts, remember they are spring loaded, and you may have to jack up the suspension arm several inches above fully-extended position, otherwise the strut tube will "pull" down when the top nut is removed. Make sure the suspension arm is jacked up enough so the nut will become loose (not under tension) before fully unscrewing!

If you have aftermarket struts without internal rebound springs, this will not be a problem. It's still tough to fit the mount up there while pulling the strut shaft down against the gas pressure.

A spring compressor is highly recommended for safety.

Hi
I try to find a decent spring compressor for the job, I have a couple different in the shop, but not anyone that feels good as well. Some one have a tip for a spring compressor that will work?
