Why do so many cars on eBay from the east coast seem to make short stops in TX to be registered?

I think it has to do with the Benz leasing system - maybe their home base for leasing is in TX?

STUNNING well preserved 500E! I have traded collectible and Highline European cars for over 40 years,I am always fascinated when a preowned example comes my way that is so well cared for and so well preserved that it still reflects the condition of a new car,This is such an example. The pictures taken do not reflect how absolutely nice the condition of the car is.The interior looks and smells brand new in everyway,the exterior condition also looks new in everyway. I drive my cars,I have family,dogs,cats,weather,road conditions,neighbors and I cannot keep a car from receiving some sort of ding or rock chip as well as broken interior trim pieces,stains soil spots,tears,scrapes,this car has none of that!I cannot emphasize enough how fresh and crisp this car is, KUDOs to the previous owners.The run and drive is as nice as the cosmetics,strong,tight,solid.I have service records going back to when the car was new.Major and minor services performed and recorded both with service tickets and in the service booklet. The car recently had $5000 spent on timing chain, rails, waterpump, resealing. The tires are fresh and deep in tread. The upgraded AMG wheels are without flaw with a like new finish. Flippers don't do that. $200 in a detail job and nice photo shoot is likely all it's seen since Miami.

However, the car did receive >$5k in major work in late 2014 courtesy of a previous owner, see post #25. And also post #42.

The question is... why did the buyer in Miami want to unload it so soon after purchase, and very likely at a loss...?

Now that I'm an objective outsider instead of the seller of this car:
This car has gone slightly more than 300 miles since I sold it last February. The current seller's description of condition is optimistic, but it is a good car. Biggest issues in my eyes are inop AC and there's a crack in the front valence by the right fog light. Light cosmetic wear to the paint (stone chips) but much less than you'd expect for the mileage.

I would certainly buy the car back if I didn't have so many cars and motorcycles. I'm sure my SO is very tired about how much I complain about how much I miss the 500E but it's hard to rationalize given all the other cars I have. I'm guessing the AC still doesn't work, probably needs evaporator, which isn't cheap. Nice, honest, attractive car that's nearly stock (aside from shift knob and wheels), and has relatively low mileage. If you're in the market, I would consider this car seriously, I spent a shitload of money on it, even going through the trouble to put Pilot Super Sports on it. I sold it to the owner in Miami for $16k. Definitely dealer markup at play here.

I should further add that the seller in Miami originally asked $22.5k and then reduced it to $18k. I got him a hookup on shipping when he bought it so he only paid $1000 to get it to Miami. Therefore, we know the current seller paid at most $18k, and might have been able to get the seller out whole with an offer of $17k. It's only gone 8 miles since it was in Miami so it was obviously trucked up to Nashville. Figure $500 for that and a few hundred in detailing so the seller is probably in it $18-$19k.

Cosmetically, for a car with 100k miles, this car looks to be in above average condition. Interior looks good. No obvious paint mismatches. Stock radio. Headliner appears to be attached. The wheels are a love em or hate em thing, but not a huge deal.

I am guessing this car is in Augusta Ga. I live in Augusta and would be happy to look at the car if someone is serious about buying it. I do not know the owner or i am not associated with the car. If someone needs a PPI there is one mechanic at the MB dealer that I trust. He knows about 500e’s
