"It has been dealer maintained continually, and runs with impressive power and smooth ride. I am the current, and second, owner of this gorgeous sports sedan, and I have owned it since April, 1999. It comes with four leather, bucket seats (fronts are heated), a 5-disc CD player; and a rare pedigree.

Last service check shows zero issues. Brand new all weather tires (July, 2011). Some small wear, age-appropriate paint chips here and there; one tiny dent above front passenger tire; small rust spot developing on exterior sunroof. All shown in photos."

Hi Jordi,
im the new owner of the chicago ebay 500E planing to drive it down to Miami next week where the car will stay, could you please point me in the right direction as far as good mechanic goes, Thank you in advance

Pedro

Thank You, Dave , i finally was able to get one after many years, i owned a 93 500E smoke silver back in 1994 had it for two years but had to sell it , i can say it is the only car i have regreted selling, hopefully this will be a kepper.
Thank You again ,very helpfull forum.

Outstanding news Pedro. The list of Miami owners has been increasing recently. I'll be glad to help you out, just send me a PM when you arrive. Enjoy the long drive!

FYI!!!!!
after wining the auction, agreed with the seller to send a check, made travel plans bought plane tickets hotel reservations etc ,after seller receives check 48hrs of silence, now today seller sends an email apologizing she can not go foward with the sale because i sen her a check not from USA ,which is not the case,i guess she thinks she can get more for it since she said would be listing the car again on ebay,Beware of this seller.

i will keep on my search for the right car!!

Pedro

... she can not go foward with the sale because i sen her a check not from USA ,which is not the case,

If it is not the case, then You should consider opening an eBay case against the Seller on principle. The auction clearly states, "Sells to: Worldwide", & "ONLY U.S. or Canadian cashier's checks and money orders will be accepted".

This is the 2nd Seller within a short period of time who has reneged on a supposedly "done" deal. :whack:

Note: $17K??? Its History Report shows this car has spent its entire life in Rustbelt, Illinois. A serious buyer should seriously negotiate a pre-inspect (especially undercarriage) first before laying out the coin on this one.

Your money would probably be better spent obtaining a Southern or Californian car. :choochoo:

I have a '92 500e in Chicago and can vouch for the advice not to jump on a 100k car that has lived here. Rust on the roof is a sign of trouble. The pic's look like last fall or winter. Mine has 76k and does not leave the garage in winter and spent it's formative years in Texas. I still drive my '92 300ce in winter and it has 162k miles...it can be done but it takes a toll.

Obviously the buyer got greedy and thought they can get more. At $17K for a rusty, rust-belt car, good luck. The $12K selling price is indeed all the money for such a car. rbn3 is correct. If you see visible rust, it's only the tip of the iceberg. There is going to be 5x that amount in "hidden" rust. Sellers (and I recently had a buyer on eBay that reneged on a $10 sale) and buyers on eBay are just so typical of society these days. Nobody has any integrity anymore. And eBay has become so politically correct that you can't (as a seller) leave negative feedback for a lame buyer.

I would definitely complain to eBay about this. eBay is supposed to be a legally binding contract and if you did, in fact, provide a US payment per the rules, then you ought to be able to get the car. Not to mention have the seller cover the cost of the arrangements you made. Have you considered contacting eBay?

Cheers,
Gerry

She could have asked you to cancel the check and send a wire transfer. Whatever man don't sweat it. Points well made about the mid-west rust factor. This could be a blessing in disguise Pedro, keep looking around and you'll find a good one.

Thank You for all the moral support and objective analysis, i agree with all you guys regarding possible rust, the seller got greedy, im already looking southern cal cars with lot less miles , as far as taking action... well i guess everything happens for a reason, and people get what they deserve at the end,im sure i will get a better car, i will keep you guys posted ,
Thank You ,
Pedro
PS: i have bought many cars on ebay(%100 positive) never anybody came with such a nonsense excuse
