Good Independent shops in Seattle? Here is one, maybe.

Hey everyone,

I've been struggling to find a good shop that knows older Mercs. I think I found one, perhaps, based on another Benz crazy friend. SCHMITT AUTOMOTIVE SVC.. I've not used them yet, but my SL 600 is about to go in for new wire harnesses to be installed. I'm having Portland Wiring Harness rebuild my harnesses (engine bay, MAF, Fuel Injection, and lower harness). This is the only place I've found so far. Open to suggestions. Anyway, I thought I'd share this for Seattle folks as there are no suggestions on this forum.

Frank Schmitt used to work on my 500E, did the transmission replacement and many other repairs. He closed up the Bellevue shop and was out of the biz for a bit, recently saw that he is up and running with his son in Renton. I would have no hesitations using him again when I get another benz.

Frank and Mark, his son, are both great sources in the independent Benz world. I rarely if ever have anyone touch my cars besides me, but if there is something out of my league or that I just don't want to do... the cars either go to Park Place limited or Schmitt. Park Place definitely has high labor cost, but I am alway confident they know what they are doing and will do it right so it's worth paying a bit extra. The guy that ran the show for a long time there, Adam (who was awesome btw) left the biz but all of their techs are great and they regularly see all kinds of cool and particular cars. I took my E420 there for PPI and the Tech let me walk through everything with him with no qualms, he was very familiar with the W124 and the M119. Beside my car while we worked was a 190e cossie and a 500e, good company...
