SOLD Late style Steering wheel

Nice wheel and a very good price with the airbag. If someone is wanting to change from the early style to late style (like this one) they will want the airbag which is very difficult to find alone. It costs this much to get one refinished.

hm...what is EARLY style then?this is just a Sportline steering wheel fitted to ALL early AND late 500e"s,or did i miss out on something?

Early style was 390mm diameter, but used the same airbag as the standard 1992-1995 W124. During mid-1992 production, they changed to the "triangle" shaped airbag which was used on all Sportline models (and 500E) afterwards.

Example - this 1992 500E was built Oct-1991 and has the early Sportline wheel/airbag:

This ones a good example of non sportline steering wheel-

But then a lot of the wooden wheels out there are also non sportline (spokes too far apart) which puts me off them. I've grown to really like the leather sportline wheel so it's a keeper!

It may just be semantics but the early 500E wheel is a Sportline (same size as all other E500Es) it just has a different spoke arrangement. All other MB standard wheels are larger. The wood enhanced wheels you are seeing for sale are most likely non Sportline larger diameter wheels. As a side thought there may only be 100 or less of these early wheels in the states unless they were offered on the 190 Sportlines/16v cars. My silver car has one and although I have acquired one of the later style I've grown to like the early one for it's plebian look.

Not all other MB "standard wheels" are larger. I got the W140 wood/leather in mine, and that is 390mm.
