LCD Temp Display Repair Tutorial

Nice, but it doesn't address the thermistor failure, which almost as common as the "black death" that occurs with the LCD display.

At least the thermistor is an easy and cheap fix. Pretty sure I wrote that up somewhere...😵‍💫

Wow, perfect timing! I watch his YouTube all the time, his videos are great. My 126 has this 'Black Death' on its outside temp display and I was ferreting around online for a solution and only found a few vids, certainly nothing of this quality. The vendor he got his LCD from appears to have an eBay store as well w prix fixe shipping to the US making transactions here a bit easier.

It's much much much easier to just install a replacement LCD unit. I have them and sell them all the time to folks for around $20-25. Pull the cluster, two screws, unplug, and do the opposite to install - 15 minutes tops. As much as I also love David's videos, the time and effort required to replace an LCD in a unit like this isn't worth it vs. spending $25 on a used factory replacement unit that is working. I have about 5-6 of them in my parts stock right now, either for the 124 or the 126 (different parts).

Hi Gerry,
I wanted to ask if your replacement LCD unit would fit my R129.066? If yes, may I request for a price quote using FedEx/DHL for shipping to Manila zip 1770, Philippines? Also if you accept PayPal ?
Thank you in advance :)

Unfortunately I believe these LCD units are specific to the W124, particularly after the 1987 model year (there is an early and a late W124 unit).

I have a few of these GVZ Imperial Fahrenheit spare 124 displays, they are a fantastic conversion piece with the ladies 🌡

Those NL kits are very good I used them before. I find that particular you-toober to be particularly boring and procrastinating so didn't watch the full video. It is a simple install which has been documented somewhere on the board here previously

@JC220 is this the NL kit you are referring to? EDIT: Noticed this was a kit. Oddly I'm not seeing any Celsius w126 temp displays for a reasonable price, only F, for a reasonable price.
