List of cars with a specific engine code?

Where can I find a list of vehicles that have a dertwin engine code? Specifically 119.972?
That engine was only used in the R129 chassis, specifically 129.067, and only certain years.

In USA, it is 1993-1995 model years, 500SL/SL500. Europe does not use model years so be careful if looking outside USA.

If you find a donor car and want to verify the engine code / serial, look up the VIN in this datacard decoder:

I assume you are looking for either spare engines that drop into an E500E, or a plug+play motor to upgrade a 400E420...?

300,000 miles on my 4.2 L, I’m going to be on the hunt for a replacement engine. Would you happen to know any switches be best to grab the entire drivetrain including rear differential and trans? My 400E Does not have a SR, and if I can find a suitable 2.65 differential I would swap that in. I simply don’t know if the transitions can be used or not.

The main things you need are the engine, LH module, and EZL. Keep your existing transmission but re-seal it, or consider a rebuild if it has 300k on it.

If you want a 2.65 diff, find one from a 1990-92 500SL (129.066 chassis), without ASR if your 400E doesn't have ASR. Plug+play, might need to swap the sensor wire if the donor is shorter. Then get a YellowBox for the speedo correction.

ASR was optional on 90-92 500SL, so double check before buying a diff. Non-ASR has a single sensor on the front/side. ASR has two sensors on the top. And the donor *must* be a 129.066 or the diff won't physically bolt in.
