Looking for premium shipping company for hi-end cars

Hello guys,

I might need a shipping company in the US to deliver my 500E from one state to another . I love my car so much and I spent tons of time and effort on it so I need a very trustworthy and credible shipping company. I think you understand my concerns. :nobmw:

Ideally I am looking for trucks that has fully covered trailers (something like Porsche dealer uses to deliver new vehicles).

Please let me know what is good place to call ? Any experience how somebody transport his/her E500E or other highly beloved toys ?

:cheers3:

Your best bets are either Passport Transport or Intercity Lines. I would not consider any others.

DO NOT EVER use Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) or UShip.

There is another recent thread on this topic here.

Cheers,
Gerry

You are always helpful :thankyou:

Sounds like Das and UShip are not so good :agree:

I ve checked other thread too. Will contact with passport company first and see their rates , not sure if I am willing to pay more than $2500 but anything lower is what I am expecting for proper service/care/delivery.

Ditto what Gerry said. Be warned, it will cost you a small fortune... probably $2k-$4k depending on the distance.

:spend:

$1,500-3K is probably more like it, yes depending on distance. Likely $2-2.5K in the continental US as long as you are not going coast to coast.

You moving out of the land of 10,000 lakes Roman? Where to?

Yup but have not decided yet final destination, may be land of highest building in the world :)

MN to NJ $1486 which is not bad at all. (that was online quote)

The regular open air shipping operated by unknown foreigners is appx. $700+ .

I Don't use any else but the small group I deal with.

Two years ago his truck was loaded to the brim w/ GTO's...and NOT the cheap American built kind either.

You want a Perfect ship from a Small group of guys who Don't need to advertise to stay utterly booked year round/ship for some the most discriminating car owners in the US?

This is them.

Even the so called good shippers like Intercity and Reliable use a broker system. If they don't have one of their trucks available they put it out on the open market. I was working with Intercity to move a car from Atlanta to Portland. They gave me an incredibly competitive price so I agreed to have them move the car. Two weeks went by and car was still sitting on the ground. I contacted them and they said they had no trucks making that route and they could not get any other carriers to take for the price they quoted me. I ended up canceling the Intercity move and hired another carrier to get the car to LA. I used uship to move it from LA to Portland. The uship move worked out great. The hauler was moving a car trailer from LA to Portland so he put my car in the trailer. I have no complaints about uship.

Looks like there are different stories and different experience with the one company. I ll share my experience once I will be moving my beauty.

Of course Jonathan guys rock so use them if you can, if not many have had great experiences with U Ship. You get to deal with the owners not a broker and they have a rating system so you can pick the best.

When I had a transmission issue I tried to deal with Jonathan. Two times I called and I believe couple of emails were sent after we agreed but I am still waiting for response regarding the safe shipping company to his shop to rebuild my tranny. I understand he is very busy or simply my 500E is not good enough to receive service at his shop. Not really sure what was the issue. So I took it to MB delaer for regular cars and regular people and had my tranny replaced.

I am pretty sure there must be an exceptional company that provides excellent service and has never ever had any major delays or issues basically because there are certain group of people who extremely value time, desire premium service and do not try save few $$.

Yes. That company is Passport Transport.

Once I finally had all my supplies in order/on the shelf (my kevlar band manufacture was horribly backed up) I noticed you had opted to go with a factory/standard unit....

You had obviously moved on so I did not want to bother you further.

Feel like I answered this question just recently. Passport 100%. I used them for the move from CA to FL with three cars.

:-) neil

For your move, Roma, definitely check out Precious Metals out of Jersey. Friends have had good experiences with them up and down the East Coast. Wayne Carini (Chasing Classic Cars) also uses them a lot. If they have some extra space on a return run to Jersey, you might get a great price.

Cheers,
