M119.972 oil leak

Well… it is a niagra falls style oil leak … approx 1 liter per 10 sec….

Anyway the leak is from the right side in the oil filter housing but I cant specify the exact erea

There are no oil cooler hoses in this engine… all bolt were tighten and tourqed…

Any ideas?

Is the leak FROM the oil filter housing, or NEAR the oil filter housing? Or from the gasket to the block?

Are you certain the 3 mounting bolts were torqued, and not a bolt nearby that looked like a mounting bolt but wasn't?

Yes all three were torqued

The erea of the oil filter housing…it is very high pressure running oil…

I cant specify the exact location

In about 5 sec all the oil has been drained

I'd start by cleaning the filter housing and inspecting for cracks, and try to figure out a better location of the source... top? bottom? gasket? Etc. Might need to put a few quarts of oil in and have someone else start the engine while you are watching the housing for the geyser.

Yes.this is my plan but my wife wants to kill me .. there is an oil lake in the garage

If it is a high pressure leaking, it must be in the oil filter housing? Is this the only area with high pressure of oil ?

Well, directly above the housing is the timing chain tensioner.

It would help if you added some context as to what happened prior to this. Drove it in the garage at night and the next day sprung an 8-quart leak? Or did you just complete some repairs and the leak occurred after the repairs? Etc.

I have done heads and timing chain tensioner and guides

Drove around 3000 miles is no issues.

Last week I drove and I noticed the suddenly the oul pressure droped to zero

I have seen oil leak that drained the oil…

Whoa. That is crazy. For grins I'd check if the the nut & bolt for the tensioner, and generally look around that area. I don't know if anything else which would cause that large of a leak at the front/passenger side.

Yuck. Douse that area with a can of Brakleen or other degreaser to get it fully dry, then watch it closely while a helper starts the car, ready to shut off immediately when you holler.

Never seen that before! @Klink? Only thing I can guess is an incorrectly torqued bolt... could be something I'm missing.

I have torqued all bolts. If I remember right it was 25
