This is mainly for the @gsxr and @jhodg5ck, and anyone else here who has and/or loves the M156 engine:

A comparison of the factory / stock dipstick vs. the "revised" factory dipstick (larger red head) and the aftermarket dipstick from 6.3 Motorsports.

Note that the "revised" factory dipstick is longer and tends to hit the bottom of the oilpan and bend at the tip slightly. This skews the oil level reading.

On my E63, the original dipstick would push upward a good 1/2 inch or more, after every full throttle blast. Driven gently there was no crankcase pressure and the dipstick stayed in place. I got the new OE style with red ball end, and extra "latch" up top, and it always remained in place afterwards. I didn't know the aftermarket version was available, if it was available back in 2017 when we got the car.

Thanks for sharing!
