Hi everyone, new to the forum with my 94 euro spec e500.
Wanted to introduce myself, and get acquainted. I'm currently looking for advice on replacing some old suspension springs. Dont know if I should replace with more modern OEM+ parts but just happy to be here and share more about this particular car and its story.

My car was near the end of 500 E (pre-facelift) production; it was completed in feb of 93. It also uniquely is 1 of 6 that got the 228 engine warmer/heater code. Not going to use it much in Dallas texas but cool nonetheless. WDB1240361B938892 is the vin supplied after being federalize and im sure you guys can find more bits and pieces about it.

I love the car, and happy to be a new member of this community!

Is there something wrong with the springs, i.e. are the aftermarket, or broken from rust? Springs do not normally "wear out" and new ones may not offer much, if any, change if the original stock springs are still intact. Shouldn't need to do anything else to "federalize" the car, since it's older than 25 years. That's the original VIN from the factory, btw.

Just found the car you bought (link here). Springs look fine, as does the ride height. I'd get the front ball joint boots replaced ASAP and pray the ball joints are tight. DO NOT replace the entire control arm unless the ball joints have failed... only aftermarket LCA's are available and they are NOT good quality. Much better to salvage what you have if at all possible. Seems the auxiliary heater has been disconnected and is non-functional, so it's good you won't need it in Dallas.

Welcome to the forum!
