WANTED Metal Cam Oiler Tubes

Looking for a complete set of used MB metal oiler tubes. My original 175k plastics started failing a year ago and my mechanic looked for MB replacements. He said the current MB branded metal tubes made in China or Russia at the dealership didn't look very impressive and put metal UROs in.

Now the end caps on those UROs are leaking after one year and less than 5k miles.

Does anyone have some that they would like to sell? I really would like to get the prototypes that I've read about but would settle for a solid metal set.

MB only sells plastic tubes. I don't know what your mechanic was on about, but he's wrong. There's a quality aftermarket aluminum tube available from Rauch & Spiegel for $31/ea ($500 per set). See link below. Or find a set of good used OE MB metal tubes. For the couple people who had posts advertising sets for sale, send them a direct message ("Start conversation"). They may not see your reply to their For Sale thread.

Also: there is no such thing as "prototype" tubes, that's a long-running joke on the forum. By definition if a part was used on production vehicles, it cannot be a prototype.

And just to pile on, as far as I know Mercedes never sold the metal tubes as service parts. If you ordered the number on the metal tubes you got one of the later plastic tubes. The assumption is that they superseded the metal part to the plastic one.

So MB used to make the metal tubes but now only sells plastic?
Correct. Early M119 engines came with metal tubes through approximately the late 1992 model year. Around the beginning of the 1993 model year, they switched to the plastic tubes. And plastic tubes are all that has been available as spare parts from MB for many many years, if actually ever.

Sets regularly come up for sale here on the forum. I just a few weeks ago sold a set for $100 + $10 postage with new o-rings installed, as seen here.

Thanks Gerry. The comment that I heard from my mechanic referred to the current MB plastic tubes. I misheard. lookin
