My 95 E320 Coupe FS on BAHAT 😔

It’s been a looong time since I’ve posted here but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has helped me during my years of owning both my 95 E420 and my 95 Moonstone grey coupe. The community on this site made ownership that much sweeter…and the support has been second to none. Sadly, I’m walking away from the 124 world, at least for now. I’ll also be liquidating my Tectite 03 E55 at some point soon.

Here’s the listing on BAHAT. I had to list it with no reserve unfortunately. Wish me luck and thanks again for everything!

Jon

BAHAT E320 Coupe Listing

BaT pulled the same crap on me, they wouldn't accept my VW with a reserve. Cars and Bids pulled the same crap.

I have seen too many people loose thousands of dollars by selling their car at no reserve. It's a crap shoot, sometimes you get many interested bidders other times its just dead. Too risky listing with no reserve.

BAT tried to pull the same BS on me with my E500, so I did not use them. The problem is that they have become too much in demand, so they can now choose which cars they accept. No reserve is a crap shoot, if you happen to be unlucky & nobody is bidding, you give your stuff away.
They like no reserve because they are sure to get their cut at whatever price.

Jon:

Good luck with the sale. The color combination on your e320 coupe is amazing, as are the wheels you put on it. I’m a pre-facelift guy myself, but your car really looks great. It’s unfortunate that you have to sell on that platform with NR, because I shudder when I see sorted and well cared for cars go for peanuts because the right folks were not looking that particular week.

Your car looks stunning @jonie13, especially for 150k miles km! 😍 It looks super well cared for, so best of luck with the sale and hopefully someone appreciative comes across your auction

Thank you guys for the kind words. I’m hoping at least 2 people want it badly 😃. It truly is a nice car and I’m going to miss it when it goes. Took me a long time to even get to this point and I know I’ll have moments of regret in the future.

Awesome job documenting the head gasket replacement and updated wiring harness, that should calm down the muppets in the peanut gallery. The cylinder head looks brand new, not even the usual brown varnish. Hopefully there will be 2 bidders who both want it really bad!

A couple of observations:

It looks to me like RTV was used on that valve cover gasket when it was replaced. No bueno. The M104 VCG shouldn't need RTV, nor is it spec'd for that job. The next person who pulls that valve cover off the motor, is going to have one hell of a par-tay cleaning up that stuff !!

Also, that intake cam solenoid is an MB replacement, manufactured by Pierburg, which is good (hopefully the corresponding updated armature behind it was also replaced at the same time). However, it also looks like the same RTV was used to seal it to the front timing cover - the proper sealant is the orange "koala-claw" goo, which is anaerobic.
