Complete New engine, specific for W124 E500 1994-1995.
Purchased in Stuttgart at Mercedes-Benz factory from a MB engineer as a spare.

A rare new engine, a real GEM, a unique, one of a kind brand new, unused crate engine.

With all accessories as per photos.

Checked the engine number in Mercedes Benz VeDoc by “Search by engine number” option and it is a genuine spare brand new engine, not installed in any other E500 before.

Brand new, crate engine.
Engine number: 119 974 12 010281 e=10.0

As per engine nr, and cast stamping looks like it was produced in late 1994.

I´m familiar with prices.
If Bernhard would rebuild the engine it will not cost 20, much less. And you get a warranty. Here- 20 grand for what? No warranty, nobody knows how all those plastic and rubber parts look like after 30 years..... 20 is wishfull thinking, not more.

Could I put this in my 95 E 320?
Sure, you can put any M119 V8 into any E320. But it will cost a fortune, because nothing about the swap is plug+play. For starters, the 6-cyl front engine crossmember has to be cut out and the V8 crossmember needs to be welded in. And, the subframe needs to be replaced with the beefier V8 version. Some of the required parts are NLA new, so you'll need to buy a complete 400E/E420 parts car to raid components from, along with buying a 5L engine.

Since your E320 is a cabriolet, this MIGHT be worth it to you, since V8 cabrio conversions are almost non-existent. If you plan to keep the car a very long time and don't mind an installation cost somewhere in 5-figure territory, go for it. If concerned about resale value, document the conversion closely with a ton of photos and all receipts. $20k in addition to the engine cost may be on the low side unless you do a lot of this as DIY. Few shops will be willing to attempt this. TGA (Texas German) might do it. Or ship it to Blue Ridge MB, they might even have an engine and the 400E donor you need.

My $0.02: Unless your cabrio is super low miles and pristine, I'd get a used 5L engine and refresh it with new seals / chain rails / etc. I'm seeing some 5L donor motors for less than $1k, including some located in or near Texas. Probably could get that ready to install for ±$5k depending how deep you go into the motor. Plus the cost of the 400E donor car... plus all the "while you are in there" costs... plus rebuilding the V8 transmission... plus all the new parts for the drivetrain / subframe... you start to understand where the $20k install costs comes from.

Oh, the crate is awesome!!! I'm never letting go of mine, I've been trying to decide how Best to utilize it's awesomeness :-P

I Will say getting all the NOS, Unobtanium accessories is also a very nice aspect of getting an engine like this.... NEW Tandem pump, NEW alternator, NEW water pump...NEW throttle actuator and Air Mass.

...and all the rubber and things and stuff on our engine was still perfect. I Changed the rear main out just because, but I'll say this, half way through when I had old and new in my hand I was second guessing my choice.
