Part wanted- LH unit for 1991 500E

Since I'm having starting/running problems with my 500E, it's been suggested to me that I swap in a good LH unit to make sure that part of the engine's system isn't the problem. Does anyone have an LH unit for my series car that they are willing to sell? Please PM me off line if you do, and thank you.

Also, if anyone has the PN for the relevant item, that would be helpful as well.

Any M119 LH module, for any chassis / and displacement engine, will work fine for testing the fuel system / starting / basic operation.

If you specifically want a 1992 5.0L module with WOT enrichment, see this thread, but you can use a more common / less expensive module for testing.

:banana2:

Okay, when I'm trying to buy this more common form of it, is there a particular part number or description I should be seeking? I don't actually know what "LH module" stands for.

Any part number listed in this chart will work.

It just has to be for a 5.0 liter, Bosch LH injected M119 engine. Model years 1992-1996 should be OK. 124, 129 or 140 chassis.

Any LH computer from a 1992 model will have a few extra HP (hence the name WOT - wide open throttle); 1993 and 1994 cars will be rated a few HP less. This is only extra HP provided at wide open throttle. You will never see it in 99% of real-world driving. WOT computers tend to be about double the price of non-WOT units.

LH stands for "Luftmasse Hitzdraht" -- German for "Air Mass Hot Wire," which perfectly describes the technology by which the injection system measures incoming air volume to meter with the appropriate amount of fuel.

My friend Eddie Alexander, parts manager at MB Annapolis, will be happy to sell you a new LH computer (non-WOT) for $1,578 + 6% Maryland sales tax. That's discounted from list price over $500. It's the facility located on Forest Drive, not the main dealership location in Eastport.

:update: a check of MB Classic in Germany notes that this LH unit is NLA, as well. The US parts web sites have not been updated with this NLA information.

Should, but ive been bit by some weirdness from time to time..thus I always make an effort to start with the same or get the list subs that pertain directly to that number.

There is an inexpensive scan tool, looks like OBD1, which I ordered. I'll post results of that as well.
Have a link to the tool you ordered?

The only "scan tools" for OBD1 are either the hand-held analog blinker box, or the full Star Diagnostic System C3/C4. If you ordered a blinker box, discard whatever code translation documents come with it, and use the PDF files on this forum.

Considering it only costs about $35, it's likely the blinker box. Thanks for the suggestion. I will look for the pdf files you mention- if I can't access them, I'll ask for help. Sometimes I have difficulty finding files here.
