WANTED Power Steering Pressure Hose

Steve, the high pressure hose bas heen NLA for a while, IIRC. Your best bet is to have a hydraulic shop replace the rubber section of your original hose. You might be able to find a good spare from a 400E (any year) and rebuild/repair that one, to swap in.

Hmm. Worth a try, I'd contact them and ask if it's in stock or not. If they want to "order it" for you... that means they don't have one.

:scratchchin:

I would be very confident in the work of a professional hose shop such as Parker. These companies produce hoses for all sorts of hydraulic applications where pressures and environments are above what we need as well as for equipment in use where downtime is hugely expensive.

I'll be having some made locally as soon as I put this flu behind me.

Get well soon @sheward ... your thoughts echo mine... there are a few hydraulic shops around town to deal with all the farm equipment so I'm hoping one of them will be game should I ever need... this particular hose has been replaced on my car already... it was weeping when I bought the car... I tried to get the seller to pay to replace it but he wasn't going for it at the price he gave the car to me (which was fine).

I am in the process of having three high-pressure power steering hoses custom made (reproduced) by a hydraulic shop here in Maryland for my E63 AMG. The “superseded” factory hose from MB fits and works, but is not as good as the original hose, so I’m having repros made.

The spares will go to a shop owner friend for eventual use on customer cars.

It is what it is.

I had a high pressure fuel line made for my G-wagen about 5 years ago as that hose was NLA from MB. It’s been fine ever since.

I haven't had time to call the hose shop yet to check on my hoses, but will do this when I'm back on Friday. More soon on this.

My local family run shop was able to recreate all three of the hoses I needed. Total cost was just over $100.00. I asked about their ability to form hoses into shapes. They are not able to do that.

I brought a spare piece of hose home to try it myself and had some success. I inserted a piece of aluminum tubing inside that I bent to 90 degrees with a hand tubing bender and then held the hose in front of my propane heater until just small whisps of smoke arose turning the hose for even heating. Although the hose did not retain a 90 degree bend it did retain a 45-degree bend.

It may be possible to get a greater bend with more heat however the increased heat may compromise the hose. It's likely this would be fine for a low pressure return line. I would have no problem using the 45-degree hose I formed.

Spoke to the hose shop in Millington, MD (near the Delaware state line) yesterday. They are still getting some of the parts/fittings in for the three power steering lines they are re-creating for me. They said they will be done with the project by the end of February. The holidays and (what they said) shipping difficulties delayed things, but they have most of what they need on hand now, and will be finishing up in the next few weeks.

I'm having three of these lines made - one for me (to replace the ill-fitting factory line that was superseded to) and two for @jhodg5ck, if he still wants them.

Otherwise, I'll sell them for a small profit on the open market to other 2007-2009 E63 AMG owners.
