Hi everyone. I was reading old threads about the road trips. Maybe someone had been doing since the summer started already? O planning do do it soon? I, myself will try to plan a trip to UK and France (two weeks long). Would be great to hear suggestions for these areas :hugs:

I've been all over the continental US.

If you haven't done it, the southwest is an amazing place to drive thru. Cold desert nights, with not a light in sight. Amazing natural rock formations. lots of neat history everywhere.

Wouldn't want to live there, but as far as scenery on the open road ... :agree:

And let's not forget Santa Barbara to Carmel along PCH.... IIRC Makeman took either old 66 or I70 west to east(same?) can't remember but the story is fun drives and great scenes anywhere mountains and water are, or once were....

I have a bunch of info as I spent most of last year doing the same.
I'll be back home in a few days and will write something up.
You could take the N7, the old Route Nationale, from Paris to Cannes and then the various Corniche's run along the coast, there's the Col de Turuni. You might want to find a copy of "Great Motor Highways of the Alps" by Merrick to see the various Alpine Passes.
Stop at the African Queen restaurant in Beaulieu-sur-Mer as well as the Café de Paris in Monaco. If you stay at the Hotel de Paris ask for room 512, 612 or 712. Best view of all. Lots of small vineyards in the Var. Cap d'Antibes is great as is Cap d'Ail. The ACM, Automobile Club of Monaco is very nice to visit and have lunch but you may have to be a member or guest of a member. See the Princes collection on the Rock too.
More when I get back to Chi-Town.

OK, back to Chicago and have some time.
Tell me your interests and I will offer my suggestions. Roads, Alpine Passes, history, food, cafe's, museums, scantily clad hot babes, astronomy, small wineries, writers from the 20's and 30's, homes of current and former dictators living large off the US taxpayers, Russian Vor's, Chinese Triads, Japanese Yakuza, Yachts of the rich and famous, Yachts of the formerly rich and famous about to be repossessed, local places etc., etc.
There's an olive store in old town of Antibes BTW, never seen an entire store dedicated to just olives but yet there is one in one of the most expensive pieces of Real Estate in the world.
For various legal reason I cannot give you my exact itinerary but I can point out the highlights. Besides you do not want to go where I have boldly gone before.
Kind Regards

Ron
