Scheel-Mann Seats for my G55?

One of my biggest complaints with my 2008 G55 (and they are few!) is the two front seats. Basically shite...despite the Designo leather. In 2009 the G550 and G55 finally got some new front seats...the same as what was installed in the E-Class at that time. So, I essentially missed out on the upgraded seats with some proper extended "thigh" support.

So, I've been on a multi-year search for replacement seats...either newer OE seats from a 2009+ G55, or something from Recaro or Scheel-Mann. The issue is, of course, the "soak"...nothing of good quality is cheap.

The Scheel-Mann Vario F seats are pretty sweet though and are very tempting to install in my G to address not only the driving comfort issue, but also to keep me interested in further long-term ownership.

The cost details are as follows: ONE Scheel-Mann front seat, in black CLOTH, including their adapter system, sliders and shipping is US$2,317.00. In black leather the "soak" is US$3,016.00.

Here are my questions for the 500Eboard community:

1. Given the cost/benefit described above...should I get the cloth seats or the leather seats?
2. Should I just get one seat (driver seat) or get two front seats? Two cloth seats total US$4,600 and two leather seats total about US$6,000.00

Definitely keen to hear it from this group....bring it on (flame suit is on!)

A bit far from you and I don't know if they can be made to fit but the soak is right. Leaves a lot of coin to make them work.
Hi! So the Vario F will fit in the 2008 G. The additional cost is getting my interior guy to do the install AND then getting my indy shop to program via Xentry that the passenger front seat is no longer present (assuming I get two front seats).

I've been in touch with the US rep from Scheel-Mann. He has the Vario F seats in his 2002 G.

I don’t know anything about these seats but they look really crisp and proper.

FWIW the going rate for USED original Porsche softback sport seats to fit 944/968/964/993 cars redone in new leather is also approximately USD 6K a pair. 😳😬

For me, @8899 that Kompressor G55 is easily worth the $6k for new seats depending upon how far you are into the money (and I'm sure you're in the money). If not on this car alone, you're in the money on your E5E sale and your S55 + you'll get it back if you ever sell the G. If you can make it work (MB is killing me having dealers need to code everything) and your shops can do the job properly, I say pull the trigger whenever you're ready.

Good heads up on the seats though. I hadn't heard that before.
