SOLD SOLD: K&N Air Filters 33-2678 50% OFF

Re: K&N Air Filters 33-2678 50% OFF

i really do not know how sensitive our MAF sensors are..but KN filter for the MAF sensor cars is a known fact that is No Go.As the oil film from the filters do over time encapsule the sensor element in the MAF sensors..and starts to give false readings because of it.

so me personally would never fit a KN filter on my 500e..though i DO have it on my Ford Focus Rs..which ALSO has a MAF sensor..but generally..its a known fact that it isnt all good .

Lowman, you are correct - if the filters are over-oiled, they can mess up the MAF. If oiled correctly, they shouldn't cause any problems. I think several forum members use them without any issues.

I have K&N on two of my W210's with the hot-film MAF (different than the hot-wire MAF used on the 500E) and there has never been a problem on the W210's.

And I have seen them cause more problems on the hot film cars than I have on hot wire cars. LH at least has an ocasonial burn off cycle that probably manages the oil deposits well enough.
Overall, I hate those things with a purple passion. When installed in an otherwise stock air filter system, they are at best a solution in search of a problem, and at worst, they are a problem.

Sounds like Klink (and GSXR?) needs a little "eduKatioN" [emoji51][emoji848]

I must say my KN filter was in the air cleaner assembly from my parts car, that's the one I chunked!

For the record: I'm only interested in the K&N for competition use, specifically for NHRA contingency payouts. I've got the K&N contingency decals on a couple of our race cars and would like the filters installed in case they ever did an inspection. For street use, and almost any other use, I agree with Klink - the stock paper filters are not restrictive and are highly recommended for normal people who aren't insane like me.
