WANTED Spark Plug Wires Number Labels Clip-Ons 1 thru 8 - V8

Anyone have a set of Mercedes ignition/spark plug wire little clips numbered 1-8? This is for my 85 SEC widebody I am restoring. One of those little finishing touches that really adds to a complete restoration.

If anyone has some of the little clips, please post - maybe someone else can fill the gaps.

I have two sets of the factory RUBBER numbers that slide onto the ends of the wires. They are yellow colored, but don’t clip on. They slide on when the cable ends are removed.

These are NLA from MB. I can round them up and take some photos if you are interested.

definitely not clip-on or plastic though. They do harden over time and engine heat.

I'll try to dig them up later today. I just came across them over the summer when I was working on my E500 COVID project, and inventoried them. There is a separate MB part number for each number (eight different part numbers). They are yellow stretchy rubber, and tend to harden and get very brown with age and heat.

I recommend you try some clip-on numbers, such as these (which I put on MY car with my COVID project) -- use the 7mm numbers, not the 8mm ones I got, which are too big:

It looks like these numbers are now available again from MB, and the number has been superseded with a two-digit code that indicates a supplier change. A year or two ago, they were NLA.

You will need two examples of each number (one for each end of the wire ... at the distributor cap and at the plug end).

I recommend that you get 2-3 complete sets, just in case they go NLA permanently. They seem to be running around $3.85-4.00 each, so around $65 a set.

If you have an existing wire set (not making your own custom wire set), make SURE the connectors have the threaded ends, and are designed to unscrew. Some aftermarket brands of connectors/wires (i.e., Bremi boots) do not use the OE threaded connectors and are not designed to come apart.

For functionality, heat-shrink numbers work much better.

However, I suspect Al is looking for originality. There might be ways to keep the plastic widgets from sliding around, maybe a dot of adhesive?
