Today I attended a BaT event in Thousand Oaks, CA. It was held in two locations. The Mike Malamut Museum and a block away at WOB/CARS. The Malamut is a private museum not usually open to the public. It had an interesting collection of mostly small foreign cars of all makes and all restored and lots of auto memorabilia.
WOB/CARS had lots of high dollar sports cars in various stages of prep for BaT auction. He has an impressive facility and some personal cars in his showroom.
Besides this there were probably 1,000 private enthusiast cars parked in parking lots and on the street within three blocks of both facilities.
I parked behind a very nice 500E that looked completely stock. I believe it was Champagne/Schroom. (I may be off on the color combo so don’t be insulted) It was parked across the street from WOB/CARS. I was going to take a pic of it when I returned to my car. Unfortunately it was gone when I returned. If you are a member of the 500E board please let me know.
My second encounter was on the 101 Frwy south in Tarzana, CA. The driver politely let me pull in front of him to get off at the Receda Off-ramp where he came to a red light next to me. This was a beautiful E500 Charcoal/Grey w/ 18” 129 wheels. We were setting at a light that had a “No Turn on Red” which was pissing off the people behind us because there was a lot of horn blowing for us to turn against the light. Anyway I didn’t see the driver but his passenger was an older guy like me. When the light finally changed the E500 went left and I went right. Again if your a member of the 500Eboard please speak up.
PS: I took my KIA Optima NOT my 500E which I left at home since I really need new tires and it was a 172 mile round trip back to Orange County. I have no idea if it’s on the 500Eboard. If it is please speak up.
Edit: It was a beautiful sunny Saturday in Thousand Oaks, CA. What luck! and a great day to bring out your car and show it off.
Today, Sunday, The weather forecast is showing RAIN currently for the whole day and tomorrow. Not a lot but surely enough to mess up a perfectly detailed car at a car show.
