Sticky Suggestion

Hello everyone.

As is probably the case with most of us, the initial reason I joined this forum was to learn as much as I could about these cars, and hopefully, get a lead on one to purchase. Accordingly, I thought it would be very helpful to start a new sticky (or series of stickies) that represent a consolidated listing of member recommendations for mechanics/shops that are experienced working on W124 cars and their various iterations. Every so often someone mentions a good mechanic or shop in a thread, but there is no single location or compilation of these. Collecting this information could help other members needing to find/change a mechanic, get a PPI, deal with an out-of-town breakdown, that kind of thing. It would also help identify specialists in tuning, body work, rehabs, restorations, etc., which seem to be topics of active discussion on the board. Hopefully, it would stay a positive thing, I personally wouldn't want it to become a public gripe forum.

For user and administrative ease, it makes sense to me segregate member recommendations by geography (continent, country, region?). What say you all?

Great Idea, may I also suggest..... the Porsche 356 Registry has something called a Travel Assistance Network (TAN). By signing up you agree that: if a fellow member has a problem while in your area you agree to "help." That help may be a cup of coffee, use of some tools, recommendations for repair, etc., etc. It's as much or as little as you would like. More of just a friendly face when things go bad away from home.

Just a suggestion.

Kind Regards,

Ron

Yeah, the M-100 Mercedes club years ago tried to start up a nationwide network of folks with hospitality and expertise for folks in need, IIRC. That effort devolved into a listing of competent shops who could work on those very esoteric cars. I will set up a sub-forum regarding shops.
