Hi forum,
I finally registered on the board today after reading a lot in the last couple of years.
My name is Stijn and I live in Belgium and I own a '92 300td turbo since 2 years.
To keep the car going and solving bit by bit its technical challenges, I often end up here on this forum as it is still a very lively community with tons of tech info and shared owner experiences. Although we run a different car and burn different fuel, some other components I find are very similar.
I hope I can contribute and share knowledge from my own experience too one day.

To summarize my automotive history a bit; my first car and still one of the best I've owned, although probably not fully realizing it at age 18 was a '85 rauchsilber w201 2.0. Tremendously reliable and comfortable car.
In between I owned some classic swedish bricks, 2x volvo 850's, a volvo 240, an amazon and a saab 900 turbo convertible, with some though British ones one the side to go on camping trips with, 2x defender 110 and a Disco sport.
Through the years all of them came, brought more or less joy and went away again until I stumbled on this 300tdt two years ago. It was dry stored for a couple of years and it biggest plus was the condition of the body work. Down side is that it lacked maintenance history and it hadn't been driven for a long time.
I did 40.000km since buying it and from time to time all kind of maintenance related issues are popping up.
But driving it was like a whole bunch of memories came back to me. The robustness of the car, the refinement, the ergonomics... I instantly regret not have bought a benz 15 years earlier.
Now, the car is a keeper and my intention is to never get rid of it again. I throws up it's age from time to time and shamelessly sucks up my money, but I'm convinced I'll get it back to a more or less reliable daily driver state, once all the gremlins are eliminated.
I read along with you guy's and take it from there, one step at at a time.
