Uneven trunk lid gaps

Recently noticed that my facelift .036 has uneven gaps on the trunk lid edges. On one side the lid sits a lot closer to the tail light than the other side. I searched through recent BAT auctions for face lifted models and noticed that on two recent auctions the cars had similar gaps. On mine, it seems to only be the edge by the tail light that is uneven on the right and left side. The gaps on the top of the trunk lid are pretty even on both sides. Attached are two photos of the BAT cars with arrows pointing to the area of concern. Is this normal? Can the trunk lid be adjusted so that it is even on both sides?

These cars came from the factory with very very good and consistent gaps.

Yes, the trunk lid can be adjusted to even out the gaps through the trunk lid bolts on the inside. I recommend having someone who has experience in doing this help you, though.

There isn't much in it there perhaps just adjusting the striker would bring it in line.

However do double check for past accident damage on any car where you see inconsistent gaps. Pull trunk liners and have a good look see

The source of the facelifted boot/bonnet is critical here. Neither the boot nor the bonnet gaps on my facelifted 500E were good when I first had the car. An experienced body shop were not able to help, as the replacement facelifted panels were not OE, and had not been manufactured exactly to the OE spec. It wasn't until I purchased new MB ones, that we were able to achieve good gaps.

I know because when i made my tailight i did not mold the inside evenly
