I remember when these came out (and I was very much a die hard Audi fan in my younger years), this was a perfect cross (design wise in my mind) of Audi 100/200 and 80/90 of B2 generation... and whaaaaat??? V8???
I worked on several back in the day. Drooled over owning one someday but when I had my chance to purchase a rare 1992 4.2 manual I walked away after the test drive. A manual transmission does not guarantee a winner sometimes. I think they aged well and they do drive nicely. They are also a hoot to drive in the snow and give the go anywhere I’m invincible feeling in bad weather. The 034 and 036 cars are superior in the handling department. Much better balance than the understeer plow happy Audi.
I liked 80's Audi's. I remember a mature student at university owning an Audi 200 turbo back in England. Most of the rest of car owners had 1.0 liter metros so it felt like a spaceship.
