What are your favourite NLA parts on your shelves? Or what great score did you get on ebay regarding unobtanium MB parts?

1: I'll start - this is a NOS W140 Soft Close pump I got on ebay for £102 just a few weeks ago.

20200410_195806.jpg

2: I have a pair of pre facelift left traffic 500E lenses I got from Oscar on here a couple years back and will keep them for my 500E when reverting back to its pre facelift roots

3: 500E Wavetrac LSD I bought from a member here who had it from the board group buy. I havent got to install it yet but cant wait to do so!

20200410_200214.jpg

4: A small NLA item but it is a 500E cill cover I spotted by fluke on ebay some time ago for about £10 so snagged it as fast as I could

20200410_195838.jpg

There is more.... but this is a thread starter

So come on guys- spill it!! What NLA or unobtanium are YOU hiding away!? :cloud9::respekt:

Joe, this COVID19 is boring as hell 😂
1. I have a set of original MB NLA Euro W124 E500 left and right complete headlights. (Purchased them a few years ago to install them on my 1992 500E Midnight Blue facelift restoration project when done)
2. Original MB Euro E500 left and right headlight lenses. (If my original 500E headlights are clean and ok inside, these lenses will be used as facelift)
3. Original MB Euro 500E left and right lenses.
4. Original MB ASR wire metal bracket behind the
Differencial to be used on my Midnight Blue 500E when I finish my restoration.
5. Original NLA SLS tanks (2).
6. 3-4 sets of headlight wipers.
I purchased these items a few years ago because I am planning to use them after I complete my restoration, not because they were or are NLA.

This thread is interesting. There have been several "what are your most prized hoarded parts" threads, but never one that is exclusively focused on NLA parts. Here are mine:

1: Trunk Battery Area Sheetmetal

Are those available again? I picked up a set last year. Sorry to diminish your hoard.

I have a TWO facelift E500 left side headlights (left side was available from MB I think last year and snapped it up) , and one E500 right side headlight. Not sure what I am waiting for but since my car is a daily driver and my headlight cracks are only visible up close I chose not to replace them.

Headlights / lenses seems to be the popular item.

Oh perfect! I saw in December of 2019 that both sides were available again (as opposed to earlier in the year when one side was NLA) --- I don't know if they are still available now in April 2020 -

Awesome Thread Joe,

Not a too much here, but I do have the headlight montage, and a couple other goodies..

1 - 1 set, E500 Headlamp assm's - New in the Box, 2016 vintage, going on Tex, the 199 500, if it ever gets out of the paint shop...
2 - 1 set. 500E Euro pre-face headlight lens - 1 set left - , (bought 2 sets, the intended extra spare got used on Ms. Bornite, to make RHT)
3 - HVAC PODS - I bought enough Pods in the correct P/N's to rebuild all 4 of my 124's, including the ones needed to rebuild the center Pod
4 - Facelift Headlight wiper Blades & Rubber inserts- The link to them was on this forum a couple months ago, brand new, from Germany with Love

The Pods were all available (except for that 1), back then, (3 or 4 years ago I think), so I got 2 sets for the 500's, a set for the E420 and a set for the 300CE. After I had spent all that money I wondered if I was being foolish putting all that money on the shelf, now I'm glad I've got them. with retirement coming up soon and all the time in the world, I'll start pulling dashes with no time constraints.

I also had several sets of grey switches, that I was saving for my future retirement fund enhancement, but Gerry flooded the market like OPEC did with oil!

Now, all they are good for is to attract chicks... bummer... Time for another beer...:cheers1:

More of my NLA stuff-

A 500E badge, group buy console struts and a C36 AMG bumper badge

20200410_230122.jpg

New PSE electrical motors from a group buy in USA a few years back. He had exact motors produced- that are a direct bolt in replacement. He had about 100 made at the time and I bought a tray from him. Fantastic to have and cost about 10 bucks a motor at the time. I have repaired 3x W140 PSE pumps so far with ease using these motors

20200410_230333.jpg

Although not brand new I have collected about 6x perfect condition leather shift knobs inc Sportline ones. Pretty sure these would be NLA items....

Nice thread. I cannot participate, however. I have 20+ years of hoarding and numerous 5-shelf basement racks (and two 5-shelf garage racks) of hoarded parts. I'm proud of all of them. From the lowliest 560SEC Euro headlight glass lenses, or 124 hood leading edge foam and side plastic panels, to the spare G-wagen bumpers and brush guards. It's all good stuff in my eyes -- otherwise, I wouldn't have it !!!

I recently ordered a pair of euro tail lights for my w202 which are still in europe. These go for 300ish in the states compared to 50-100for US spec lights. Got them for super cheap but shipping was gonna cost me tripple so I had him ship them to a neighbour country to my father in laws friend who was supposed to come here this month. Well due to covid hes no longer coming.

Sorry, no pics but my favs include:

1-Vickers tandem pump reseal kit
1-set of EVOII wheels off of CL (PO had them on a W210 he parted out, got the set for $200 w/ tires)
1-MB lower harness (when they were NLA)
1-"500E" trunk badge
1-set "BBB" engine mounts (MB OE, but not officially)
1-set of a/c pods
1-set OE rear bumper inserts
1-SLS reservoir and filter

This one of my most exciting NLA parts finds! Just got these delivered yesterday. The correct NOS C140 MB floor mats for my coupe in the correct colour and new sealed in bag. They were ordered at a dealer 19 years ago and still in unopened packet. I paid a premium for these but then again IMO nothing beats the quality and originality of genuine MB mats :jono:

It almost seems a shame to take them out of the packet never mind use them

Nope. No ulterior motive or other intent suggested by my comment -- implicit or explicit!

Your "OWNER" thread is license to post anything you want to that is MB/motorcycle/automotive related! That's why we have OWNER threads.

You've developed such expertise and extensive HOW-TOs in the 140 realm, it really should have a site dedicated to showcasing all of it, though !

The "Roadtrips and Project Journals" sub-forum is also another appropriate place for ANYONE to post their non-500-related projects they are doing.

OK that's cool Gerry thanks I'll keep to my owners thread as much as possible for non 500E stuff

I found my MB OEM E500 spark plug wire set that I bought from Robert Fenton a while back! Put it in my proper hoarding cabinet with the rest of my E500 parts.

NOS W126 AMG Sebring rear exhaust. Pre and facelift Euro .036 headlight lenses and many other tasty items.

I got not too many things for the 500 in my stock. Set of plastic fenders I want to put on the car since quite some time now, new impact Strips which are actually installed, head light lenses, 2x 500e badges, and some spare lh/ezl units, the neez euro5 wheels ah and a transmission, engine and differential - OK still more than I thought first.

Not as much a part as an accessory but I have a set of the W124 sedan roof bars with a key. I got them from a member over on Peach Parts when I bought his NOS 034 parts horde a few years ago. I had them on my former 93 400E and am undecided about putting them on the 95 E420.

Also have a stack of bins filled with assorted W123 bits from cars I parted out over the years.

I have an E60 sway bar. Found in Japan. The other 2 were quickly snapped up my forum members (I believe).

Robert

I keep reading about this holy-grail of a sway bar. Is there some mutual consensus that the w124.036 lacks rear roll stiffness or something? I don't think I drive the car hard enough to notice......

Depends what you are looking for. The 036 tends to understeer, so for neutral handling a larger rear bar would be preferred... but all the aftermarket ones lack the notch (flat area on the bar) for locating the SLS bracket, making setup a PITA as the SLS bracket will spin all around the Feind bar. And if you don't use OE bushings, poly squeaks, even when greased (like the Fiend bars, pre-NLA).

The larger front bar does reduce body roll, which is nice, but doesn't help with understeer. Wonder if there's any effect in a straight line at Vmax? Jono was working on custom bars, not sure of status though; or final size (think 30-32mm front).

:gsxracer:

I have a Fiend bar for the W124, never installed. It's a good fit. Sitting in my basement at the moment. It had a bracket that was engineered for SLS. I believe that Jono's bars may have been modeled after the Fiend bars.

I was a beta tester for the 126 Fiend bar. Including using poly bushings with Zerk fittings. Never have had any squeak problems, even after many years.

Are you selling the roller rear window blind and maybe a set of the euro headlight lenses??

Are you selling the roller rear window blind and maybe a set of the euro headlight lenses??

Thanks for asking. I would consider trading them for other NLA items of similarly unique interest. Unfortunately, however, I would not consider selling them for cash.

Items that are interesting.... Rial ARC M800? Glock box? Amg Aero II 2-pc? I dunno .... its kind of a neat treasure hunt to see what everyone has stashed away!

Too many to count - but the hunt for these items has paid off and come to mind right away.

1. 2 pairs 500E euro prefacelift Hella lenses LHD/RHT

2. antenna seals for my coupe and cab, all NOS and very difficult to find these days in NOS or excellent condition.

3. Rear roller blind for my e320 coupe. In excellent working condition + NOS harness.

4. 2 pairs of Genuine C/A124 AMG side skirts, 1 of which is
NOS and found on this forum. And 2 sets of genuine gen 2 bumpers for both of my E36 AMG tribute builds.

5. NOS C124 AMG duck tail in original packaging.
6. NOS rear door window
sun shade for my E500

7. NOS AMG 1 piece emblem for E36

8. A few NOS headlight wiper blade refills in original packaging.

9. NOS hydraulic fluid reservoir

10. Hood rubber ledges in good condition.

11. Exterior door rubber rails NOS in original packaging.

12. Pair of brand new 036 front fenders and a single as well. 3 total

From the lowliest 560SEC Euro headlight glass lenses
A couple of days ago, I uncovered one of my spare SEC glass lenses in a bin when I was unpacking things in the basement (yes, 3+ years after moving into the house, I'm still going through bins). I brought it up to the kitchen and put it in the dishwasher, as it was quite dusty and dingy from being in a box.

Laura was quite surprised to see the glass sitting vertically amongst our dinner plates, and I got a peaked eyebrow of "WTF is THIS in my dishwasher?!?"

Oh yes been there done that. Just a couple weeks ago I put a wheel bearing into the freezer and not 1 hour later did I get a phone call asking "WTF are car parts doing in the freezer next?"

That's what the freezer in the garage is for. Used to have an outdoor kitchen at my last house - the oven was great for heating up parts for reassembly, as it was outside and wouldn't stink up the house from the old oil and stuff burning off the part...

Yup this is what the beer fridge in the basement is used for, great for shrinking ball joints and such, plus no pesky side bar comments from the missus:thumbsup2:

1244609401 NOS E420 Sportline Steering Box. Was not cheap but worth saving for the E500E Community.
Hello Twilling, awesome!

What are your plans with the steerling box?

I collect parts to convert my E420 to sportline right now and am looking for a rear sway bar and a correct steering box.

If you think about selling it, please let me know!
