Re: E60 Differential

That guy is in here.
He is the one guy i bought my AMG airfilter box from.
From my experience..a well trusted seller...gave me a discount, shipping went SUPER quick

May not be different from a standard 036....but i do not doubt that it is really from an e60,but i do not know..of course.

i give the guy a thumbs up..based on my experience with the seller.

greets
by the way.his nick name in here is Deklamator

Re: E60 Differential

Right so, what W124 had the ASR and 3.06? Auto E320? A 2.65 it should be or 2.82. With the 3.06 You should have a 722.6xx like the AMG E50...

So... Is this a real E60 Differential? It is not the standard diff that goes in 036 E500's

Yes and no. Yes it may have been removed from a real AMG E60 vehicle, but no it was not original from Mercedes. AFAIK, no 124.036 left the factory with anything besides a 2.82 gear ratio. Someone had a 3.06 diff built and installed in whatever car this was removed from. The 3.06 ratio will slightly improve acceleration from a stop, although with a 6L it would mostly make the ASR light flash more frequently. MPG may drop a hair and top speed will be reduced as well. I'd recommend popping in a Quaife or WaveTrac limited-slip while you're at it... but that will double the cost.

Are you suggesting I install a Quaife LSD kit in my current/stock diff or in the 3.06 'E60' diff? I will most likely be purchasing the diff as I still believe the small improvement in driving dynamics will be worth it. Also need to do the first gear start mod whilst I'm at it... and E60 suspension and sway bar would be nice... [emoji389]

ADMIN EDIT: Non-differential discussion has been moved to a separate thread here: http://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11219

The Quaife / Wavetrac would be helpful if you are moving to a 3.06 diff, and/or upgrading to 6L engine. As power levels increase (or, gear ratio changes to higher numerical) a limited-slip can help put the power down. I would HIGHLY recommend the first-gear start mod before you plunk down $2k-$4k on a diff though. You may find the FGS mod make a big enough difference. Don't expect a huge change going to a 3.06 ratio.

For a stock 5L car, the Quaife/WaveTrac is primarily useful for dragstrip, road-course racing, autocross, or hooning. On the street, there is minimal benefit... ASR works great, and should not be turned off on the street except for brief periods of the aforementioned hooning.
