I wonder if it will have SLK 250 as Sales designation. Or even SL 50.

Edit: what worries me more is that there are 2 different engine numbers listed. EPC has 5 as last number, Datacard 56.

I assume this is a "special" limited edition of the already limited production run of the SL60, there were a reported 49 RHD UK registered SL60s produced. I have the details of about half of them (VIN or Reg number or both). Ron Dennis had one of them back in the day.

Not a fan of this on a 100K car:

The centre console appears to have been removed and not correctly replaced at some point because the buttons are recessed more than they should be out of the factory.

Fake ass badge.

I've looked up the VIN (provided by @weide1 in post #4) and this SL60 did actually seem to have all details as to special orders trim elements (including badges on console, selector gate and door sills) typed into the data card by a MB-dealer..

Or maybe by the factory, since original price for "below listed" - for U. A. "unten aufgeführt" in German - items is given as DM 13,000-)

Yes. That’s exactly what this is.

Considering how little of these we already got as RHD in the UK, I do wonder if there’s any of the ‘limiteds’ knocking about in RHD.

I doubt it….

There is something that bothers me deeply about prices in Swedish market, especially for old Mercedes-Benz. They are extremely overpriced just because they became tax-free and trying to give it a small modification to appear special. I just don't get it, a simple W124 E200 total renovated cost $35000? Mercedes-Benz E 200 Aut W124 Pre Facelift | Totalrenoverad säljes i Höganäs | Blocket
This is the trick:

1. Few owners
2. Modified into "something"
3. Tax-free
4. Clean, restored.
5. low milage (might be even fake)
6. ???
7. Profit

Description
A rare and fine Swedish-sold MB 200 E Pre-facelift that has been completely renovated between 08/2020 and 10/2021 with parts for over 280,000:- (with receipt) and approximately 2600 working hours. Painted February 2021 in Brilliantsilver metallic code 744. Sportline interior from a 500 E (2+2-seater) and restored and treated leather upholstery on all seats. More than 100 pictures from the renovation period are available if you are seriously interested and will of course come with the car. Please see the list at the end of the ad for a selection of things that have been renovated/replaced.

This fine 200E was built in March 1993, bought new in April 1993 at Philipson Stockholm Bil AB by Bela Bozsidar in Älvsjö (born 1931) and has had 10 private owners since then according to carfax. Decommissioned since October 2021 at approximately 24200 km when it was fully renovated and only driven 104 km to various exhibitions since then. Report on the car will be published in Mercedes-Benz Journal No. 1 2025.

During the renovation, the engine has been completely overhauled with new gaskets and the car has been extensively serviced, including gearbox service. Clean carfax with all inspections between September 2000 and June 2020 registered with mileage, before it was completely dismantled in August 2020 for the renovation. The car smells like new Mercedes-Benz and it breathes the fine quality that Mercedes-Benz stands for. Must really be seen and experienced live!

The W124 body was manufactured between 1984-1997 (between the predecessor W123 and the successor W210) and in 1993 became the first model with the name "E-class". During these years they managed to manufacture a total of 2,583,470 cars. This 200 engine is a 2.0L 16v 4-cyl engine (M111) with Siemens PEC of 136hp. The name E-class was born when the facelift model was introduced in 1993 and the cars were instead called E200, instead of 200E, where the E stood for Einspritzung.

Excerpt from the list of renovated parts: Cable harness engine. Brake discs and pads all around. Brake pipes and brake hoses. Exhaust system. Ignition cables and spark plugs. Valve cover gasket. Manifold gasket. Water pump. Engine mounts. New belts. Painted valve covers and air box. Radiator. New front fenders. Springs all around. Renovated AC with new radiator and condenser. Hard disk. Link arms. Steering rods. Stabilizer bars. Swivel joints. Wheel bearings. Steering dampers. New grill. New battery. Original Becker Grand Prix stereo. New moldings. Electric antenna. Restored wood panels. New carpets. Hood insulation. Lorinser RSK2 18” rims restored at Fälgfixarna including original wheels in luggage. New tires.

*The car is in our hall, but please call and make an appointment for a viewing for the best possible service. We offer favorable financing with cash deposit and are happy to take your car or motorcycle in exchange. #### Financing proposal installment: 69,800:- cash deposit/trade-in car gives a monthly cost of 3997:- ####

The Swedish SL60, VIN WDB1290671F169702, has matching numbers and no AMG stamp.
I went through all the SL60s from Classic.com. For ones that did show the engine serial number area, none of them had an "AMG 60" stamp. See the 4 photos attached. I'm starting to think that the "AMG 60" is not on any SL60. Just thinking out loud, maybe this stamp was used only on the W/S210 E60 engines as that was more of an upgrade since the SL60 was an official model?

I always thought these "Special Edition" badges were fake. It seems legitimate given the details written in the datacard.
Out of the 371 SL60s (129.067 + 957), only the following 16 VINs had some sort of "Limited Edition" text in the datacard. Additionally, some VINs don't have "Limited Edition ../25" but some number, probably indicating the particular number out of the total 25 of these supposed SL60 Special Edition although that didn't make sense to me as the order is off.

I think you are correct. The "AMG 60" may not be present on the SL60 factory builds.

It also seems the 6.0L engine numbers start with 99xxxx, vs 00xxxx for standard 5.0 engines. This could be identified in the data card.

And, the 6.0L have 10:1 compression while the standard 119.982 was 11:1 compression. Need a photo of the engine serial to check this since it's not in the datacard.

:detective:

gsxr, I’m not sure your second point is particularly true.

I’ve seen genuine SL60s with the 957 code have numbers beginning with 00, at least here in the UK.

But I’ve also seen 99 codes too, I’m not sure why these would differentiate?

They’re very mix and match, I guess there’ll always be a few odd ones out considering the exclusivity of these cars.

I'm not sure either! :doof:

Total speculation: 99xxxx could be factory builds, where it left MB as an SL60. 00xxxx might be conversions that left the factory as 5.0L, but were later converted to 6.0L? :scratchchin:

Agree 100%.

Yes the difference in numbers would make perfect sense that way. I think you might be right.

Some of the models have a VIN code ‘057’ which is ‘YEAR OF MODIFICATION - ****’.

So potentially the cars with the 00 numbers have that code tied to them, and the ones with the 99 don’t.

Edit: I just checked against the SL60 in question on this thread. It looks like this one (with 99 engine number) doesn’t have the 057 code.
