1966 Mercedes-Benz IMA Universal station wagon

A friend of mine passed away during Covid and I was given the opportunity to buy his 1966 Mercedes-Benz 200 IMA Universal Estate, which was an unfinished project. I stored the car away for some time and then started to finish off the restoration in June last year, and now it's finally done.

I made a short video about this rare (only around 2000 were made) and interesting car, which covers its history and some of the innovative features:

@Grant V,
A very unique and nice restoration. It brings back fond memories my 67 230 Fintail. Mine was the petrol version with a 4 speed trans. I distinctly remember the first gear as a granny gear that belonged in the diesel. You could bring it to a slow stop using first gear. I know because on a Sunday I had a major brake failure (broken metal Y tubing line on front caliper) while in San Diego and drove it 80 miles back to LA with only the emergency brake and down shifting to first gear.

Thanks for posting your wagon I really enjoyed the video.

lol

This is cool, coming from a hard-core W110/111/112 enthusiast as well as a "wagon guy." Bob (Onager?) is/was a guy who lived in SoCal that had a number of these. I wonder if he is still on this Earthly plain?

Thanks for sharing!

Dan
