1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 (16V), Atlanta, GA

Re: 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3, Atlanta, GA

Hello.

I feel this thread belongs more on the Off-topics forum, it's too far off from 124.036. But it's a great car of course. :-)

Thanks

IDk, 190 16'er isn't that horribly removed.4 doors, sporting, @ least by Mercedes standards! I'd wager most lovers of the 036 would agree the 16V isn't a terribly ride...;-)

Should anyone have interest in this car, ping me out!

Yes, the 201.036...... EVO I and II.

And just why were all the "special" hot rod Mercedes given 036 designations when Mercedes actually owned Mercedes?

116.036 450SEL 6.9
124.036 E500E
126.036 500SE
201.036 190 EVO

Interesting.. How did the race versions make ~330 hp? Is that just more radical cams and higher rpm? I am surprised a well maintained show car owner converted the a/c to R134a.

Jono- so does that hold true for the newer bodies? 036.

Good question but strange how the 500se falls into the category of special models.

To mention further, I've always wondered why the 450slc 5.0/500slc 107.026, only used the "026" code.. Since it did have the larger motor and alloy parts.

Think they were saving the 107.036 code for another special model that never was? An m100 107 perhaps?

Re: 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3, Atlanta, GA

Dumb question... wasn't the 201.035 the Evo I, and 201.036 the Evo II...? I'm not familiar with W201 pedigrees so I wasn't 100% sure. Neither were offered in the USA, btw.

I think only the 201.036 had the wild body kit and only 500 (?) total were produced worldwide, making it substantially more rare than the 124.036 chassis.

:seesaw:

The 201.034 was the 190E 2.3-16, which was imported to the USA.
The 201.035 was the 190E 2.5-16, which was never imported to the USA.
The 201.036 was the 190E 2.5-16 Evo (I and II), which was never imported to the USA.

502 examples of each of the Evo 1 (194 PS) and Evo 2 (235 PS) models were made.

Cheers,
Gerry

P.S. It is only a very rough generalisation to say that any chassis designation ending in ".036" was a "special" performance model. This is indeed factually correct in a few cases, but definitely not so in others.

For example, the 300SEL 6.3 (arguably another "special" car :jelmerian:) is chassis 109.018.
