This Black Pearl Metallic 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E is powered by a 5.0-liter M119 V8 rated at 326 horsepower, and it has been modified with a RENNtech ECU chip and muffler. The car was registered in Virginia and Massachusetts until 2005, when it was relocated to Washington, and it was acquired by its current owner in 2020. Subsequent work exceeding $20k involved replacing its four-speed automatic transmission, timing chain, and steering gear, overhauling its brakes, and installing 18″ AMG monoblock wheels in addition to a suede headliner for its black interior, which also has a Becker stereo with a Bluetooth module. This 500E shows 174k miles and is offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with service records, tools, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Washington title in the owner’s name.

Exterior details include tinted windows, gray lower cladding, a single eccentric-sweep windshield wiper, dual exhaust tips, and European-style headlights. The upper portion of the car was refinished under previous ownership. Some faded areas are noted on the roof and trunk lid, and stone chips are reported on the front valance and the side skirts.

The 500E employed a Porsche-tuned suspension with a lower ride height than other contemporary W124 models. In 2020, fluid for its rear self-leveling system was serviced, and the steering gear was replaced. The left-rear wheel bearing was replaced in August 2021. Rebuilt brake calipers were sourced in December 2022. The 18” AMG Monoblock wheels have some peeling clearcoat on the lips, and they are mounted with 245/40 front and 275/30 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.

The heated and power-adjustable front sport seats are trimmed in black leather, and the cabin has a sunroof, automatic climate control, a rear roller blind, and a Becker stereo that was serviced in 2020, at which time a Bluetooth module was installed. A suede headliner was installed in 2022. The window tint has some scratches. The shifter assembly was replaced in 2019. The six-digit odometer shows 174k miles, ~7k of which were added under current ownership.

The 32-valve 5.0L M119 V8 was factory rated at 326 322 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, which is delivered through a rebuilt four-speed automatic transmission that was installed in 2020. The timing chain and associated components were replaced during that service along with gaskets, the alternator wiring harness, and additional parts that are itemized in the ~$19k invoice for the work, which is shown in the gallery below. The battery was replaced in June 2025. The selling dealer notes that a RENNtech ECU chip has been installed, and the exhaust system features a RENNtech muffler.

Looks nice overall, and has some good maintenance taken care of. Only concerns are potential rust. The catalyst heat shields are completely gone (likely rotted away from rust), and the battery compartment has some worrisome brown areas visible from below. Also appears it's in need of a suspension refresh, for example the subframe bushings appear original, which means they are long overdue for replacement.

The Euro headlights & wipers are a nice bonus, but need adjustment so they are parallel to the hood and bumper. RENNtech muffler and Y-pipe are also a bonus.
