Seller states "Car is not running and needs engine work. Timing chain has jumped. This car must be purchased together along with a 1980 300D station wagon for a total of $21000. Will not separate."

I saw this. My humble opinion, this deal is worth at most $8k or so. I see at least $20K to 30K restoration costs, then add in the TIME spent doing it.

Unfortunately, those four-digit prices went away 10-15 years ago. If you look through the forum classifieds, you'll find wrecked 036's with salvage titles that have sold for around $20k in recent years. So while you are correct that this car will likely need another $20k to restore, it's not a bad deal (at current market values) considering the valuable NLA stuff is intact and undamaged, and the car may be rust-free. Not that I'd want it though... wrong colors, and I don't need a 123.193!

that is INSANE. 20k for such a neglected 500e! wow! just wow! I guess im so out of touch on e500e market values!
 
S123 values have gone stupid also. I wonder what that looks like...
