This is, uh, interesting. AutoCheck is filled with "Not Actual Miles" tags starting in 2001 at 49kmi. Why were the seat covers replaced with such low miles? And, in a non-factory color. 😿

Pity about the serious rust problems (note exhaust heat shield is gonzo) and the interior color change. No hood pad. $43k ask seems entirely odometer-based, surrounded by DDD. Sagging headliner. No spare wheel/tire, why? Paint is fried everywhere. Rear end sits low enough that I wonder if SLS was deleted too.

Anyone interested in this car, would be wise to pay for a detailed PPI...

1992 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series 500E One of 1500 RARE SURVIVIOR

1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E SURVIVOR 1 of 1500 V8 4-Speed Auto Very Good Cond
1992 Mercedes-Benz 500 class 500E (W124) 4-door sedan with 81,000 miles and in the original Gray Pearl Metallic. This is a survivor and one of approximately 10,400 produced from 1990-1995 and one of 1,528 sent to the USA. It was known as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” because of the powerful 5.0L DOHC (dual over head cam) 32-valve V8 boasting 322 horsepower and backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission.
These cars were collectively built with Porsche to accommodate the larger V8 engine. This includes redesigned fenders and body panels unique to this model Mercedes-Benz.
The current owner has had the car for almost 25 years and has driven it less than 13,000 miles. He also made some minor upgrades which do not take away from the performance and mystique of the 500E.
Please note the mileage shown on the odometer is 67,500. The second owner apparently had an issue with the original odometer, and it was changed out. Documentation for this repair is included in the sale along with the changes made by the present owner. Additionally, the Carfax shows a minor accident to the front end back in 1994. It has not affected the performance or handling of the car.
All the factory options function including the trunk mounted CD player.
CHANGES AND MODIFICATIONS:
First, a second set of seats were removed from a ‘donor’ 1992 500E and reupholstered in a hand-sewn Italian leather. The original seats are in good shape and are included with the sale.
The original 4-wheel power disc brakes were retained, but Brembo ‘drilled’ rotors were added.
New Michelin Pilot Sport 245/45R/17 were added with 17” EVO 2 wheels which were powder-coated.
Lorinzer trunk spoiler
K-MAC camber kit for the rear suspension with H&R progressive springs.
Koni adjustable front shocks
New wiring harness to replace the factory original ‘bio-degradable’ one.

While we do our best to provide quality cars with an honest and reliable description and realize the importance of transparency when selling vehicles. We have not built, modified, changed, or personally owned this vehicle. Even though this vehicle is being sold by Kurzmann’s Auto Brokerage we do not know the vehicles complete history since new. We want to be clear and try to answer any questions our customers might have prior to purchasing. Additionally, we do welcome 3rd party independent inspections. Please inquire prior to purchase to make sure the advertised vehicle has not already been sold. If a customer chooses to purchase sight unseen (many of our customers choose this option) the customer accepts the vehicle AS IS and WHERE IS and understands we cannot address concerns after purchase. For this reason, it's important all concerns are addressed prior to purchase. We make every effort to present accurate and reliable information, but use of this information is voluntary, and should only be deemed reliable after an independent review of its accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. It is the sole responsibility of the customer to verify the existence of options, accessories, and the vehicle condition before time of sale.
I have been an active eBay seller of cars and other items for more than 20 years and maintained a 100% rating during most of that period. Approximately 12 years ago I started an online service assisting owners of Classic, Vintage, and Muscle cars to sell their vehicles on the internet without them leaving the garage. These are private individual owners who do not want to deal with the public and all the endless phone calls, “Tire kickers”, and other nonsense that goes on when trying to sell a car. They just want someone to sell it!!

I love the color …. But shudder at the potential cost of bringing this up to casual concours condition. (Meaning concours enough for a Legends of the Autobahn). 😕

The photo below says a lot.
Isn't that the piece they had black tape over?? This is giving me "barn find" vibes, except it was parked in a field under a tree with no barn. "Rodents" may be the answer to your question about why new seats at 65k miles.

maw

I would not touch it at half that.
Dave's 100% correct -- $40K to do the paint and before rust remediation, but that does not include interior, IMHO.
There there's mechanical...
This is a disease on 4 wheels...buying someone else's troubles. The ad copy alone is enough to scare me off.
