1993 500E in Brilliant Siver with Blue 272 leather interior .
180,000 miles.
I’ve decided to sell my 500E at Barrett Jackson collector car auction in Palm Beach Florida on Thursday April 11, 2019 with no reserve. It’s lot # 176 in the afternoon. Should be on Motortrend TV/ Velocity channel. You must be pre registered with Barrett-Jackson.com ahead of time to bid.

According to the forum’s production records, this is only 1 of 8 ever produced for North America in this color combination.
I purchased the car in 2016 from the previous owner who purchased the car in 1993.
The car has the “Silver Arrow” big brake kit R129 SL600 330mm drill rotors/ 4piston brembo with the 2 piece forged AMG BBS wheels.
Includes books and records in binder, original window sticker showing the msrp of $81,700. Also included is the original Becker radio with security code not currently installed. Has an Alpine Bluetooth radio install now. Includes two keys.
Under my ownership I had the car resprayed in original paint with all trim removed and reinstalled. I had it repainted due to the clear coat on the roof, hood, and trunk lid fading. Wheels were also refinished at the same time.
Interior is in excellent condition without any rips, tears or bolster damage .
Oil change and rear hydraulic oil change, air filters, and front brake pads performed in the last couple hundred miles.

Nice looking car in a very rare color combo as you mentioned. It looks as if it has been looked after well.

Thanks jhodg5ck,
Almost bought another fun car last year at Barrett Jackson last year. Missed it by one bid.
Hope I chose the right venue for the car. 😬 No reserve scares the $&@“ out of me.

Hi Drew,
The previous owner maintained the car really well and kept all the records. I ended up taking all of them and putting each of them in a plastic sleeve in a 3 ring binder.

I have seen the car locally on a number of occasions. The seller also maintains nice examples of other European cars, which lends to the overall fantastic appearance and condition of this one.

Having succumbed recently to a new, new car and already owing a couple of other Italian ones, I’m tapped out. Otherwise, however, this would be incredibly tempting.

Hope the car ends up in a good home to another enthusiast.

My all time favorite color combo. Always liked the blue leather interior. Looks to be in great shape.

GLWS

On the B-J site, they are live streaming the auction.

Maybe 4 or 5 lots to go, as I type this....

Hammered at $15000 plus 10% buyer's vig.

Auctioneer even tried to move the bid increment by $250 when the bidding stalled.

It was mentioned on the B-J broadcast that there were two accidents on the Carfax.

That’s a nice car for that money.

maw

Yup.

2 piece wheels and SA brakes. Nice color combo.

The 3 German cars which preceded this 036 had decent action and appeared to sell for market-type money (or above in the case of the 996 Tip).

You probably would have done a bit better on BringATrailer, or better yet just via this site. Anyone who wants one of these cars comes through here eventually, because the Google leads them here.

I am not a follower of BJ auctions but would think their audience usually buy or invest in either low mile, restored or ultra rare vintage or exotics. As we see this example as a well preserved fun driver, 95% of the buyers were not in the market for a 180k mile car with 2 documented accidents mentioned during the auction. One would think even a nice Porsche with the same mileage and tainted carfax would sell way below market value as well. A no reserve auction is what it is, highest bidder takes the car. Maybe not the most efficient method of selling a car but at the end of the day it is sold and previous owner is paid.

Hope this picture can help the future history of the car regarding the 2010 carfax history. Previous owner said it was a parking lot bump. I took a picture of the dent prior to the care being repainted.

One really has to use caution and invoke due diligence when they see references to accidents on these reports, such as CarFax. As with your car, the report can make things sound ominous when they’re relatively minor. Of course it can be the exact opposite, too, but again, it’s up to the potential buyer to collect as much information as possible so they can make an informed decision.

It’s been my experience that these are rarely deal breakers, as severe damage and repairs relating to it are easily identified through other means.

Dan

To bad Silver93 didn’t spend more time on this site. His choice of auctions didn’t help the cause much either. Why would such a small accident (pic under taillight) even be reported? There may have been a more severe one we were not seeing.

Even w/ 180K miles its a nice car and should have bought more. Completely wrong venue.

Platinum Motors probably just washed it and doubled the price.

FS 1993 MB 500e Silver/ Blue Int. $22,950 , 180kmi.

Very nice car, tons of recent service. I bought it from Platinum Motorsports in MI. in 8/2020. He bought it a Barret Jackson in 6/2019. The guy paid roughly $16k and he spent another $8k on it, transmission etc. I have all the service history . original Window sticker, The previous owner before platinum had it in Palm beach and performed extensive service history on it there. It can be inspected in Santa Barbara, Ca. The only reason I'am selling it is because I purchased another 500e. The car has the SL silver arrow brakes.

The car will come with 1 piece amg 17in wheels. The stock wheels do not fit with the upgraded brakes. It has the original stereo and aftermarket. It will only be listed here for a short period of time since it will be going to auction very soon. The cars has a accident history on the carfax , but I have photos of the damage and it was not a big deal. Vin stickers are all in place on all sheetmetal.

My email is kristiantower@gmail.com , if you are interested. It was discussed on this forum before.I appreciate offers but at this time price is firm. Auction site gave me this as a reserve. Thank you for looking.

Is the car now Titled and smogged in California?

No it is still titled in Florida, from when Barret Jackson sold it to Platinum Motorsports in Michigan. I purchased it from PLT last July and it is reassigned to me. Granted I have put maybe 50 miles on the car since I bought it. I have had a dealership since 1994 in TX, NV, AZ and California. When I first started buying cars in the mid 90's I worked with a guy in Dallas and we bought and sold 75 to 100 off lease e classes a month (200 Mercedes total per month). The first car I ever sold when I was doing it for a living was a pearl Blk 1993 300e in 1994. I also work in conjunction with MB in new product and development.
I have had a new S class since 2007 model from s600,s65 just turned my 2018 in yesterday. Cars previously owned a 1971 280se 3.5 cab, SLR, 2 sl65 black series, 2012 SLS ,1971 600 SWB, 89 560sl , 190 SL, Hjeltness 300sl gullwing, 2002 S55, E55, 2007 CL65 , G55 grand edition, 2001 e320s, 2020 e63s wagon , was about to take delivery on a 2021 e63 wagon yesterday but was talked out of it by the MB rep.
I was with my dad when he bought his new, 6.9 (silver/Blue) in 1979 he traded in his silver /red 450slc that he still has today and the first car I sold was in 1989 ,MB 560 sl from Benson MB to my dads lawyer who still has that today in San Antonio. But I never owned a 500e.

Last summer I also bought :
1995 27kmi r129, 1 owner
1994 s500 w140 60kmi car on BAT that was owned by the owner of MB that has a Velour interior sold new from Riverside MB.
1983 300td wagon that was ordered new by the owner of MB Santa Barbara in 1983. So I know MBs' pretty well.

I then got into wanting another 500e I spoke to Bruce at Canepa, he has 2 spectacular cars , but overdone, MB heritage , great guy he sold his for the moon. I looked at the silver e500 , but I like the 92,93 variants better , I hear they have 10hp more , even though the e500 just seems nicer , I still like the older look. So I decided to sell this one and get a lower mile one. The dilemma I'm having is I only like 040 black and Silver.
plus I do not like the cream beige or gray int.
I would love a 040 Black with palomino. if that exist ,I do really like the silver/ blue though . the previous owner bought and paid $17,200 with all fees to BJ in W palm 3 years ago shipped it spent $8,000 servicing it. He had over $26 and change into it, So Gerry is right plan on spending $10k on the car besides cosmetics. I will have to spend an additional $1,500 and I get things done at cost. I have pages and pages of service history from the MB dealership in Palm Beach. I'm going to list it on BAT , I was also thinking to use Cars and Bids. So against my better judgment , once this sells I will most likely buy the 94 silver/blk car. I would have traded it , but it seemed like the guy just wanted a straight sale.
I will keep you posted on my 500e journey.
